We are pretty sure we are going to make purhase at SSR - wondering if we purchase 250 points - would DVC allow us to split it into 2 contracts of 125 or would we need to purchase 300 points in order to split them into 2 contracts of 150? We have 2 dd's and just thought it might be better to have 2 contracts from the start. Thanks.

Splitting the contracts is a good idea. You will need to buy one of at least 150 points but you could buy the second one for 100 points. In case you ever have to sell, smaller contracts are much easier to sell than bigger ones.

I believe you have to purchase 150 pts first, then later you can add on, but I don't know what the incraments are. maybe 25 points.

I definitely would go for two 150 point contracts over one 300 point contract.

If you choose two contracts and one contract is in you name and the other in DH name do you get 4 free annual passes as the incentive for purchasing? Or you could buy a 150 point contract then do an add-on for 130 points to get 2 passes.

The smaller contracts will generally make it easier for you to sell if the need arrises and definitely will make it easier for you if you're planning to gift your ownership interest to your DD's.

Good luck.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the OP is currently a DVC member.

The AP incentive is only for add ons. It is not available to new members.

Best wishes -

We did two. One each of 150. We were going to buy 250 but we went with 300 and plan on giving one to each son. It is also good to know if we ever have to sell we can keep one small contract.

Just a thought: If you purchase 150 points and then do a 130 point add on then you would get the two free AP's!

Silly question...can an add-on be considered a new and separate contract or is it part of the original (ie, can you sell/will them to different people)? Or, is the add-on part of the original contract if adding on to your original home resort but separate if, say, you owned at BCV but added on at SSR? Thanks for the clarification.

If I go with 2 smaller contracts - wondering how will that work with financing - will both contracts be linked for monthly payments and MF? or will they be done as 2 completely seperate deals.

Just to pile on. I'd do 150 plus the other amount of say 100 in your example. If you want all at SSR, consider 150 plus an add on of 130 for the AP. You could also look to add on at another resort giving you home resort priority at two locations.

Even though they are two contracts they would be seemless for everything from monthly payments to making reservations with the points. You will never realize you have two contracts.

YES! YES! YES!

I wish this board was around when we bought in 1995. As it turns out we got lucky in that our guide, A. J. Richter, provided us with absolutely flawless information for our needs.

This site should be required reading before any purchase is final.
