We got rid of our double stollers as we LOATHED them. They were hard to push and actually one broke. Well, we now have a trip in May and arent for sure if we should have the 4yr old walk or use 2 singles. He loves to walk the mall, around the neighborhood, the zoo, etc. BUT, I'm wondering if WDW would be too much of walking for him. We dont want to buy another stroller (as we rarely use the singles) and really dont want rent either since we have the 2 single strollers and dont want to pay the price for renting.

Does anyone have any experience w/ bringing 2 singles instead of a double?

Man I cant wait till we are completely stroller free

Take them both. Your days will be much easier if your little one can hitch a ride, even if only for half the time. You can park it in one area and then get it after you do that area. We like to park @ Mickey's philharmagic and do fantasyland and then get the stroller for the rest of the walking. Pushing is always easier than carrying especially at the end of the day!

Don't be sorry for asking your question! Hope this helps:)

We brought two singles -- my girls were 18 months and 3 and a half. It worked out pretty well except for the one time I had the two single strollers and was trying to manuver them thru Pecos Bills! :rotfl2:

I would def. bring the two, four years old is still a little young to be doing hard core WDW walking all day. My three and a half year old would walk in spurts, but certainly used the stroller every day.

I got the Prince Lionheart stroller connectors at Babies R Us. I used them basically to clip the trollers together when we went into a show, etc. I wish I had used them more pushing them in tandem (but we had five adults, two kids, so someone always had a stroller even when it was just DH & I on a few days).

You know your children best. IMHO, I'd err on the side of caution and bring both strollers.

Just to offer the other side of the coin. We did 2 weeks with dd 3 months before she turned 4 with no stroller and she did great. We didn't know how she would go so we had the "buy a cheapy umbrella stroller" backup plan but apart from the very occasional piggyback she walked and walked without complaint. We never mentioned the option of a stroller to her and therefore she didn't even consider it but I think that it may have been a different scenario if she thought it was an option.

We have always taken two single strollers instead of a double. DD is 3 and DS is 18 months. It makes it easier for me to have singles when taking potty breaks for DD or diaper change breaks for DS. I'm hoping that we'll only need one stroller on our December trip as DD will be one month shy of 4. :thumbsup2

How much does your 4 year old generally walk? We weren't able to get rid of a stroller at WDW without complaints until DD's 6th bday trip. We typically walk at least 10 miles a day at WDW (we wear pedometers). That is a LOT of walking for a little one. Personally, I would rather not deal with a meltdown or get stuck carrying her if she decided that her legs wouldn't go any further ;) That being said, for DHS and MK, you may be able to let her walk fine. AK and Epcot are another issue.

We took a double for our youngest DS and our youngest DD (who was two months shy of her 3rd b-day at the time.) Our DD refused to ride and wanted to walk all the time. The first day I did not expect this and allowed her to wear a pair of sandles that were clog style, that had no padding at all (it is almost like walking barefoot, as the soles hard hard and painted to look like wood.) She walked all day in those and didn't care. Our older DD and DS ended up taking turns riding in her spot.

She normally doesn't like to ride, but will comply. At WDW there was no way we were gonna get her in there :rotfl:

I would take it the first day to see if he even wants to use it at all and then use that to decide whether to bring it the remining days. You could also bring it and keep it somewhee that is easily accessible (car, monorail resort room, or a secure area inside the park.)

We took two single strollers to WDW last August for our 4 and 6 yr old girls. My girls are active and full of energy -- but we were SO glad that we brought the strollers.

1. storage of water bottles etc.
2. 4 yr old walks much slower than us -- this way we could move much quicker in and out of parks etc.
3. 6 yr old lasted longer -- we were able to do so much more
4. We would often use the strollers in the morning, then just use one in the evenings when we were in the parks for a shorter amount of time.

This year we're going at the end of June and I think we will bring one stroller for the girls to share. But I have to admit I'm tempted to bring them both...

We brought 2 strollers in 2005. It worked just fine for us.

My kids at that time were-4 ½ & 22 months (and 8 weeks ish in utero).

One was a Jeep umbrella one & the other was a Graco one, not a huge one but it had a huge basket, 2 cup holders for us big people, a tray for my kids & a sun shade.

How about a "tandem" stroller?? We used one with our 7 month old and 2 year old. Our 2 year old HATED being strapped in to the seat and would never stay, but he loved that he could hop on and off, sit or stand when he got tired. We borrowed one from a friend when we went and then bought one of our own when we got back because we loved it so much!

We did the tandem the past 2 trips (2 diff ones), and the back to back we did around town. We got rid of our doubles at the yard sale we had. I dont like the tandems dont fit well in doors.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I feel better about taking 2. They both close up small, so hopefully wont take up much room on the SOG bus. THANKS

This past July, my inlaws came with us with one stroller for both their 2 year old and 4 year old.

Half the time both of the kids wanted to walk. :rotfl2:

I don't recall there being a fight over who got the stroller.

I think it depends on your particular child.
