2 Sets of Magic Bands for same trip?

I'm currently planning our first family trip to WDW since the advent of MB and FP+.

We are looking at arriving around 1 am after taking an evening flight to MCO from the West Coast. Because we are using the DDP for our trip I booked our arrival night separately from the rest of the trip.

So, I booked a one night room only, and then booked a package that includes our room, tickets and DDP for the next 5 nights.

In MDE it's asking me to select MB colors for each of the people in our party for both the 1 night and 5 night reservations separately.

I am hoping that free dining might end up coming out and will include our dates (based on last year it is possible), at which point I would cancel both my existing reservations and rebook all 6 nights as one reservation. But, if that doesn't work out/isn't available, would we use the set that are with the room only package just to get into our hotel room on the first night and then switch to the second set the next morning?

Also, since we are getting in so late at night can we arrange to NOT have our luggage delivered by DME until the next day? Our flight is scheduled to land at 12:15 am, which puts us at the hotel between 1-1:30 am. I would love to just go to sleep and not deal with luggage until the next morning.

1. Magic bands are connected to a person - not a reservation. They can be used interchangeably.
2. Yes.

Awesome news on both fronts!

I kind of love the idea of having two sets of bands to use interchangeably :-)

Magic Bands are simply a manner to access the information contained in your MDE account. Either or both will work. And at this point in your planning you can actually refuse one set if you wish.
DME does not pick up luggage after 10 PM. You will have to pick it up at baggage claim when you arrive, and tote it to the DME bus. You will have it with you when you transfer to your second resort. Disney can transfer it if you wish. But know it will not be available to you until late in the afternoon - often 5 or after. You will have to call and have it delivered to your second room once you arrive at that resort. If you want them to transfer it take it to Luggage Assistance/Bell Services in the morning of your resort change.
Good Luck

If your flight lands at 12:15AM, you will have to pick up the bags at the airport yourself, you don't have the option of having them delivered.

You can get both sets of MB, or you can decline one set. Regardless, all magic bands will work anytime. I currently have 2 sets of MB for my upcoming split stay trip, I also have several MB from previous trips, and every single one of my bands has always opened the hotel door, worked for room charging and for park admissions. They are completely interchangeable.

How do you decline a set? We're doing a split stay and really don't need two sets.

Both of our reservations are for the same resort. I just booked the first night separately so that we wouldn't get charged for the DDP since we only need 5 days worth of credits. In fact, based on my current dining aspirations, we will still have 2 kid's TS credits left when we check out of WDW on Tuesday morning before we switch to the RPH at UO. I am hoping that we won't have to change rooms at all--both reservations are for Standard at Caribbean Beach.
