We will be going to disney in Aug. 2008. There will be me, my husband, our 12 year old son and our 10 and 8 year old girls. We were wondering what would be the best rooms to get. Does the all star music resort have ajoining or connecting rooms? Will they be garenteed? Which All star is the newest? Which one has the best rooms??? Any info will be appreciated!

with room and package discounts that come out, it is a bit cheaper to get the 2 rooms. Once the number of kids outnumbers the adults, they guarantee adjoining rooms.

We just got back on Sat. I have 4 kids 11,10,5, and 3 and were were in connecting rooms at POP. Reasons I personally didn't go with a family suite:
1. Wanted a door between us and the kids-get this in the suite, too
2. Didn't want any arguements about who's sleeping where. 2 kids to a bed.
3. A bit cheaper, not by much.
4. Heard good things about POP and wasn't disappointed...bus, decore, service
5. Was able to really shut out the kids...literally. If I shut our door to our room they weren't able to bug us with relentless requests.
Things that would be better in a suite: kitchenette. We had a fridge and coffeemaker from swaps and everything well smmothly!
It's just a matter of personal preference really.

I have 5 children and we always choose 2 rooms over the suite option.

I do not like the idea of having to "make-up" beds, after returning from a long day in the parks, nor do I want to deal with that mess in the mornings.

We spend a lot of time in the hosptal with our youngest son, and those chairs that convert to beds are not comfortable. Besides, I don't want anything that would remind us of a hospital stay.

Also, I wouldn't have any use for a kitchenette... I would never take time to prepare food on a Disney vacation.

We just came back in August and we stayed in the family suites at all star music. We actually had two family suites that were next to one another (there were 12 of us.) The great part with the suites is that when you come back to the room, you actually have a place to sit other than the bed. You have a couch, and a big chair, and an ottoman, plus the table and two regular chairs. There is a door on the other bedroom, so you can have your privacy. There are TV's in both rooms. You have two bathrooms, two safe's, basically two of everything. The kitchenette is nice. There is a microwave, a fridge, sink, coffee maker. They provide you with some plastic silverware and paper plates. We had brought some stuff at home for the kids when they got back at the hotel after a long day (easy mac, chef boyrdee), stuff like that. The microwave was nice for that stuff. We have done it both ways, with the adjoining rooms and the suite and pesonally, we loved the suite. You have more room to walk around in. I liked the fact that we were both in the same room. It wasn't that much more that getting two rooms.

We want to try the suites instead of 1 room at POR - 5 of us. We have done 2 connecting rooms many times and its great having extra room, but I really want a microwave and a king or queen bed for dh and I. We have requested 1 king linked to 2 doubles before but never succeeded with this request.

I am getting a family suite in August. For my dates, 7 nights at AAA rate is $1165. A standard room would have been $518 for the same time frame. So, $1036 for 2 rooms, or $1176 for a preferred location. I wouldn't feel the need to go with a preferred location, but many of the suites are in the preferred buildings with no extra charge. So, comparing the $1165 to $1176 is probably a good #.

It is just my nephew and I going. I am hoping my sister will also join us. I like the idea of the living area for a trip that long, and also being able to fix b'fast in the kitchenette in the morning.

Just an FYI

Connecting rooms are not booked as a seperate catagory so if there two or more adults in your family you might not be in connecting rooms.

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

Also as IMGONNABE40! pointed out the Family Suites are located in the Calypso (preferred location) buildings and the Jazz builidings which are next door to the Calypso buildings,
Those buildings are the nearest to the the main pool , food court and bus stop which means less walking!

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.
