I've noticed several people on here say that they will stay at two different resorts in one planned vacation.

For those of you that have done this, what are your experiences in this? I guess to me, it would seem you would waste valuable time checking in and out twice during one stay? Of course, I could be wrong! What does everyone else think?

Thanks!

You're right, many people on this board do stay at 2 resorts in 1 vacation. We tried it last month. We stayed 4 nights at the Poly and 4 nights at the POFQ. We all thought it was a pain. Yes, Disney does move your bags and take them to your next location. But you still have to unpack, pack, unpack then pack again. I just didn't think it was worth it. Next time we'll stay at 1 hotel the whole stay.

Hi there,

Weve done this, 7 days at WL followed by 7 days at BC and thought it worked out really well. Checking in and out takes no time at all and all your bags are moved for you while you spend a day in the parks.

It is a fantastic way of experiencing more than one resort, especially good if like us you can only go every couple of years. We are going to do this again on our next trip, we'll probably stay in a moderate for the first week foolowed by a week in the Poly - helps keep the costs down.

I agree with the previous poster that is does mean packing and unpacking which takes time but if you are there for more than just a couple of days it is definitely worth it.

We only do this when we stay longer than 10 days. It makes the vacation seem even longer.

In June, we will stay at 5 different places

1--off site-night of arrival
2--7 nights at BCV
3--2 nights at Vero Beach
4--2 nights at ????
5--4 nights at OKW or BWV

I like to change resorts. The rule is don't unpack. It makes it easier to deal with and you get to experience the different resorts and all they have to offer.
I do agree with Julesmom it is better when you are staying for a long length of time but our last time there we stayed

1night@ASMu
2nights@PO-FQ
3nights@POLY
2nights@WL

Brought our luggage over ourselves as we were staying by the pool anyway but No problems doing so.

Enjoy,
Lisa

I agree, staying at more than 1 resort is a wondeful opportuntiy to see different resorts and have a change of scenery during your vacation.

On our last trip we stayed at USF resort and a WDW resort, this was great for us as we are fans of both WDW and US. Plus at the USF resorts you get front-of-the-line access.

We found it really great experiencing both Universal Hotels and Disney ones.

In the furture I think that we will always do 2/3/4 resorts each time. It really enhances your vacation experience.

We are going again at Xmas staying at 2 disney resorts and 1 universal resort. We can't wait!!

We always stay at a Universal hotel and at least one Disney hotel in an 9 day time frame.

We pack "annex" bags, meaning that for the hotel that we stay the least amount of time in all goes into 1 piece of luggage, and the rest stays in the car. We do DVC for 5 nights, and when we go there we "move in", take care of laundry, and possibly pack another annex bag for the extra night that we stay at a different WDW hotel.

We enjoy visiting different resorts (esp Universal hotels!)

But we are only 2 adults, not sure how much fun this would be for a family!

I always thought that changing resorts would be a pain in the neck also, but we did it this last trip & it was fine. The only thing I would do differently is what Muushka said. I would pack suitcases to go into each resort instead of taking them all w/ you.

Obviously, the toilettries bags should go inside each resort, but the other ones could be packed with a few outfits for the # of days you will be there.

If you're staying at a DVC w/ laundry facilities I would work around this so you could use the facilities instead of having to pay to do laundry somewhere else.

It really didn't take much time at all to check in & Disney took care of our luggage so I know we will do that again. We have already talked about it.

Thanks for the responses, all. With the resorts being as much as the fun as the theme parks, perhaps staying at two different resorts would be nice. I like the idea of staying at a moderate and then moving to a deluxe for the last few days as a cheaper way to experience the nicer hotels.

I always tell people, if you go to Disney World, you HAVE to stay at Disney. It doesn't matter how cheap you think you can stay off-site, its not worth it! After all, if money is the reason, then you could stay at the ASR. But, that's just my opinion!

Thanks again!

DrKnow77 - I agree with your opinion. You just don't get the whole Disney experience unless you stay on-site. I've done both & there's nothing like being at a Disney resort.

We usually go off-site to eat dinners & when we do I feel like I could be in Anytown, USA, but when you're on-site the magic surrounds you.

I'm sure many DISers can relate!!!

Moving resorts is one of those personal preference things. I travel a lot and can go from sleep to showered and packed in 30 minutes. DP Janet loves to be were ever she's at. moving is against her nature so with a few acomidations and some of the previously mentioned tips we move and enjoy " restarting our vacation" we like to stay at BWV for the Epcot/MGM portion and CR for the Magic Kindom portion and the ALK for the AK portion we also start our vacations at AS we use that time to settel into the new time zone and go to the outlet mall ,DP and DC, to get great bargins and do a couple of days of GEE GOLLIE WERE HERE AGAIN I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE. Some trips that are shorter we move once and this next one we will move 4 times 3 days at AS 5 at BWV 2 at AKL and 5 at OKW. Even DP has learned to love moving and realy enjoys the added demension a new resort can add. Last time it was AKL and now we just cant stand the thought of not spending at liest 2 nights there.
