Hello fellow DIS'ers,

Im looking to the group for some help for my Dad who will be cruising later this year. They will be driving down from Ohio and I've mentioned to him that there are hotels at or near the port that offer free drop-off and pickup?? Is that correct?? If so would anyone be able to let me know the names of any hotels with this service he could look to book at???

And then along the hotel lines, I've read that there are ways to experience Atlantis by booking a room at a hotel near Atlantis in Nassau. Is that correct?? What are people's opinions in this, worht it or not?

That's all I have to start. Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer their insight.

Regards,
Mark

Country Inn & Suites has a shuttle from the hotel to the ship, but there's a small fee. I believe it was $5.00 per person a few years ago, but that may have changed.

Jdb thanks for that hotel. I'll look into it. I assume they'll pickup from the port as well correct?

Yes. I'm pretty sure they have a "snooze and cruise" package that includes the parking and shuttle. You will need to call to reserve the shuttle 24 hours in advance. We stayed there as a family and my parents have stayed there a couple more times - if it wasn't nice, they wouldn't repeat. :P

As far as Atlantis, I can't help as that thing has never appealed to me.

Right next to the CI&S is the Marriott Residence Inn (my preferred hotel in Port Canaveral) and a block away is the Radisson, and across the street is the brand new Homewood Suites by Hilton. I believe all have shuttles to the port. Some may have a small fee and all need to be reserved. Many will let you reserve before you actually check in.

I just want to add that it may be more convenient for them to park directly at the port. It is very easy, especially on the return when they can just hail a porter to take the luggage to the car after the cruise and they are on their way. Sometimes the shuttle waits can be long and if many people are headed back to the hotel it may be a few shuttles to get there as they are typically not huge vehicles.

Here is a link to the parking rates at Port Canaveral. Just another option for you.

Thanks for that input MJ. I'm not sure about this aspect of it. On our last cruise we used Tiffany Town Car to transport us from our Disney hotel to the port. So this is a new topic that I'm learning about it as much as they are. I will definitely pass all the hotel suggestions along to them for their booking.

Does anyone know about the Atlantis hotel that you can book for the day to gain access?
