Lego Mom regarding loops and which ones are best**
We have been to many campgrounds over the years and often times we mark our favorite sites down so we can request them for future visits. At Fort Wilderness just about every site is nice. There are a few small sites but they will let you switch if they can. We brought bikes and like to walk so getting around wasn't a problem.
We just got back from FT. Wilderness. We stayed 13 nights.
To answer your loop request. We originally booked for 12 nights and requested the 1300 loop which is right next to the 1400 loop (the 1300 loop doesn't have cable). We wanted the 1300 loop because it was close to everything and has a playground for DD3.
We arrived at midnight on Saturday night to ask where in the area we could go. They had a site available in the 1700 loop so we took it. They told us we could move to the 1300 loop the next day. We took a bike ride through the 1300 loop and decided we liked the 1700 loop even though it's the pet loop and doesn't have the playground.
The 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900 loops are on the right side of the campground. At first we were unsure if we would like it because we had a site next to the road and could hear the buses. It wasn't a problem. In fact, the 1200 and 1300 are right in the middle of the campground. The sites are a tad smaller than the 1600 through 1900 loops.
The advantage to the 1200, 1300, and 1400 sites is that the playground, settlement, bike barn, campfire and pool are really close.
However, the downfall, in our opinion to the 1200, 1400 & 1300 loops is that you are smack in the middle of the campground so you will hear more traffic. The yellow buses run on the right side and the orange buses run on the left (through the middle of the campground).
We requested the 300 loop for Christmas only because it's a busy time of year and we wanted to walk to the marina instead of riding the buses. The sites in the 300 loop are smaller but we can live with that.
We requested the 1100 loop for next March/April because it is on the left side of the campground, the sites all seem fairly large and it's close to everything.
I think it all depends on what you will be doing.
We went to a park each day from opening til around 3pm and then left for the day. The only night we went back was for the light parade and fireworks at the MK. We basically let our daughter lead the way. We saw way too many preschool aged children having MAJOR meltdowns because they were tired. It's nice to get your money's worth but not at the expense of your child.
