I plan on doing a solo trip to the world for the first time in Jan. I have two questions I hope someone can answer for me.
I have always wanted to go to the world during christmas but I can't because of work and I would like to know how long the christmas decorations stay up.
My second question I would like to know is for the people who have been solo. Do you plan your days or do you just go where the wind takes you?
Thanks for any input. :)

When I went solo this past November, I planned which park I was going to which day and I had a few ADRs... but I didn't plan what I was doing down to the minute.

they go up in Nov - use to be after THanksgiving - now it is the middle of Nov when they start MVMCP.

they stay up to the first or second week in January - know they are still up Jan 8 - seem pictures.

As spiceycat mentioned, they are usually down by the second week in Jan.

I usually plan which park I'm going to each day ahead of time (depending on park hours, EMH, etc.), but once there, I wing it. Hit my favorite rides 1st thing before it gets crowded, then off to whatever hits my fancy. I'm usually a 2-park-a-day person, hitting the one with EMH 1st, then break around lunch and hit a different park in the late afternoon/evening. I think it depends alot on how often you visit WDW - if alot, then you can pick and choose and relax - if not, commando might be more your style with a list of rides/attractions you want to see/ride.

HTH!!! :goodvibes

i planned every detail except where to eat. turned out when i went solo...i didn't stick to plan at all. i winged it eating which turned out to be a disaster but the rest of my trip was great. for me the planning is fun so i will do it everytime but i am trying to let go a little and just have fun. loved doing or not doing what i wanted. best part of a solo trip.

I have been solo more than a dozen times, but often will meet up with folks for a few days as they join me there. Usually for my time, I plan a few parks or events, but in early March it's pretty easy to get seated for meals solo. Don't wait too much longer into the spring break season, though. I'm also a big baseball fan so I usually get some tix for the Braves.

Best thing about solo is you don't have to fight about where to go next!
Enjoy!

I went Solo this past Jan and I did plan and make reservations for meals before I left and I'm glad that I did. I also planned what I wanted to do each day. Some things I got to some I didn't. It was very relaxing. I also did the behind the scenes tour which was all day and I really enjoyed it. I did plan and didn't wing it and it seemed to work out well for me. :cool1:

I usually have a list of things I really want to do, daily park schedules & my tickets!

Each solo visit I try to see/do things I haven't done before. One trip it was the afternoon parades. Always seem to miss them! Discovered I love the one at AK but can take or leave the rest. :)

Also, new attractions, or some I didn't do previously because I was with others who didn't want to do them.

My goal on my next solo trip is park opening at each park. I won't hold my breath, but I will attempt it!

Thanks you all for your advice and input. I'm so excited. I know the trip is not for 11 months but the way the days go by, it will be here before I know it.
