Ok...1st question....Has anyone ever had Disney check children's age at the entrance? I've got left over days for my dd on a child's ticket but she is 11 now.

2nd question....How many of you HONESTLY let your 11 or 12 yr. old roam a DW park with a friend without constant adult supervision?

Thanks in Advance for your advice! :goodvibes

1st question- They will upgrade the ticket for you at no cost.

2nd question- NEVER! And I never will, too many freaks, sorry.

I can answer the first one. Disney does not penalize you for your children growing up. Go to guest services and they will exchange your child's ticket for a new adult ticket at no extra charge (at least this is what many others have reported doing!)

As for the second question, it all depends on your child. Personally, I think 11 or 12 is a little bit too young to roam a park without adult supervision. However, it is a call that I think each parent has to make on their own.

question 1: my kids have never been checked
question 2: The earliest I let my daughter and a friend go off by themselves (armed with cell phones) was when she was 14. And both of these girls had been to WDW multiple times, so both knew the lay of the land very very well. They had to stay in the same park as we did and we met up for lunch and then mid-afternoon again. Some days we only saw them at the specified meet times, but other days, they preferred to hang with everyone else.

#1, no, at least not for us
#2 I don't think that is safe, but that is my opinion, I am VERY over protective

#1 I second (3rd?) that they will replace the ticket for an adult one at no extra charge.

#2 When my brother and I were young, my parents always had us with them until I was 13 and he was 12 but that was because we had been to the parks probably more than 50 times each by then. And it was usually a case where we wanted to go on thunder mountain or something and they didnt. Most of the time we were together though. By the next year though, my bro and I were on our own most of the time. Just meeting up for lunch and when it was time to go.
