1. Could someone explain what the Continental codeshare scheme is with Virgin please? I have seen a number of references to it in various posts and I have no idea what it is.:confused3

2. If you book a flight using miles and money, is the amount of money specified/fixed, or is it flexible? Can you choose how much money/airmiles to use?

Thanks.:)

Lots of airlines do Codeshare, both our upcoming trips are codeshare. August booked with KLM again fly with Delta. Buying via KLM cost £1,170pp if we had bought direct with Delta they were almost £1,800pp
You buy the seat with one airline (Continental) but fly with another (Virgin) the 2 airlines have an agreement to sell the others seats, sometimes cheaper than direct with the airline you are flying with.

Miles and money, the miles part of is fixed, 2,000 for economy, 7,500 PE & 15,000 upper http://www.virginatlantic.co.uk/en/gb/frequentflyer/spendmiles/milesplusmoney/index.jsp
The money part of it is set by Virgin, we have had great savings in the past, average saving was probably about £200 for using 2,000 miles but last couple of years the scheme has not been good for us.

Thanks Wayne. So, is it clear when you book that although you book with KLM, you fly with Delta? Or is that bit just a pleasant surprise? Sorry to be so dense about this.

I was looking at the miles and money prices using Tesco Clubcard Deals and it looked quite good. It was £400 worth of Clubcard Deals and £1350 cash (I think) for 5 direct return flights to Orlando.

Depends which site you book with, some say which airline you will be flying with some don't. With KLM/AirFrance//Delta it usually depends on the route and where you change planes, KLM is usually Amsterdam. AirFrance Paris, Delta US hubs.
With continental if its a direct flight it will be a Virgin plane on codeshare as they only fly indirect with their own planes.

I have no idea about Tesco, never looked into their reward scheme, we shop at Asda.
