2 Princesses, a mom and Grumpy-1st Trip Final Thoughts

Vent away sister! I have heard the same thing a million times. People ask me where I'm going on vacation I tell them and then they make a rude comment about well "we know where the money is being made" or something along those lines. I don't take any other major vacation except my Disney trip. My kids love it, I love it and Joe is starting to love it more and more. Anyone close enough knows that I start saving for my next Disney vacation the moment I get home. We love it that much.

You are exactly right. The foolish people who make those comments don't understand the happiness you and your family are experiencing and the lasting memories you are making. They haven't been touched by the "magic". Which once you have a taste is exceptionally addicting. I look at it like this, my children will be small and full of wonder for a limited time and it won't be long until I'm their biggest embarassment...lol. I'm making the most of these precious opportunities.

Good for you for making memories with your children and thanks for letting me be your creepy, Disney internet buddy. :lmao:

A little vent if you will.....

I started this pre trippie as a place to put all my planning ideas and trip plans. Dining, park plans etc. I also did it because many people in my life were starting to grow tired of hearing about ALL my plans, meets etc. Which brings me to my first vent.
Last weekend I was having dinner with a few friends. I mentioned how I was attending a big "meet" in Epcot. This apparently was cause for concern.:scared1: "You are meeting peole you met on the internet" "What does Jeff think about that" "My husband would never let me do that' Yes I am meeting up with people I "met" on the interent, :cool1::banana::love:Jeff thinks it's a great idea-more beer drinking buddies,:drinking1 and as far as Jeff "letting" me......
Then there is always the $$ question. "Wow that must be an expensive trip" "my family could never do that" etc. No it is really not that expensive and I am sure your family could if that was what you chose to do. Priorities. We save our $$ to travel-it's what we love to do.:cheer2: We have 2 young girls who love princesses, Mickey etc. Who still talk about the Disney Cruise we went on last year at least 4 times a week. Seems like a no brainer to me...And who can put a $$ tag on the memories. Watching them see the castle for the first time, the parades etc.:lovestruc:love:
Thanks for reading, I knew you guys would understand.

Hi Mary! :wave2: Wow....great post! I know EXACTLY what you mean! The people I work with are all like, "why would you care about meeting people at Disney World you don't even know?" Uh....because I find it fun, is that good enough? My DW and kids are really looking forward to it! They think it is neat that we've all shared our plans, experiences, pictures, trip reports, etc., and now we would like to meet up in person. What's so weird about that? I, for one, am a VERY social person....and I am always up for meeting new friends.

Also, you are right about people talking about how expensive Disney can be. Well, sure, Disney can be very expensive - but it can also be affordable. You are right about saving up throughout the year and placing priority on family time. To me, as you stated, that time you spend as a family is very precious...and how can you put a pricetag on that? My son, daughter, and wife all agree that our trip last May was the best time we've ever experienced together as a family. Call me a dreamer, but to me that's magical! My priority IS my family....and that's why we love Disney World.

Alan

If you get those comments when you are going with Family ! Can you imagine what I get when I do my solo trips !! Things like isn't there somewhere else you'd like to go !! Answer "NO" I have seen the Grand Canyon, viisted NYC, vacationed in Georgia, Tennesee, S.Carollina, Texas not to mention PA, Canada and many European Countries and I still LOVE Diney the BEST!!hat I have noticed is that more and more are coming to me for advice if they plan a trip, including my Boss !! My solo trips are a little expensive but I am worth it !! The family trip in September is an awesome deal and may well be repeated in a few years !!

Wow i can sure relate to that post. I get grief if I even mention Disney. My own mom gives me an attitude and makes rude comments all the time. So does my brother who spends plenty of $$$$ on his little toys for his family. He has a few classic cars, (not to mention parts for them) 2 wave runners, 2 new quads. They did go to Disney with us October 2007 but the kids got warn out with my DB way of touring, which would be not having a plan :rolleyes1. We don't spend that much for our trips and we enjoy our family time together. It's worth any amount of $$$ for the memories my kids will have. Iwould love to see your countdown calendar :goodvibes. I just picked up some Mickeyheads to start ours this weekend.

First of all...I can't wait to see the countdown calendar!

Second of all....Vent away sista!! Non-Disney people just don't get it! Mike and I both grew up with parents that took us on family vacations, usually Disney! They knew the importance of family time and we are just carrying on the tradition because we know how precious that quality time is. The people who question us or hand out the rude comments are usually people who have been deprived of quality family time and have their priorities out of whack!

I will post pics as soon as we figure out a new way to hang it-keeps falling off the wall......
lol, mine did too!! I finally put it on the rocking chair and let Connor pull off the numbers from there!;)

I really honestly believe that there are people in this world, family, friends and aquaintances that not only just don't get it, but that thrive on trying to make other people miserable just so they can be happy about it!:confused3:confused::mad:

Then of course there are the nice ones too!!:goodvibes

My brother and parents have made these comments to me, but my brother and his wife gamble to the point of financial problems and my Dad always had seasons tickets for sports teams etc. These plans didn't include my Mom unfortunately, so to me spending money on a family trip is WAY better!!!:thumbsup2

Next time, I think I will do something like LL-with all the pics from this trip!

I totally understand what you are saying!

It's gotten to the point where I just tell people (especially at work) that I am just going to Florida in May. I get sick of people asking me, "Why don't you wait to go to Disney until you have kids?" To which I reply, "Disney is for all ages...Walt said so." :lmao:

Now that is a sad day where you have to omit info due to a negative response. Disney has something for everyone. SO there

I have been getting the "didn't you just get back from Kauai" um yes but my lovely inlaws paid for that. Jeff gets 2 weeks a year of vacation. For the next couple of years we have agreed that Disney-either world or a cruise will be one of those weeks. Like you said they will only be small and full of wonder for so long. I am aslo very glad to hear that it has grown on Joe. Jeff is pretty reserved by nature-except with me and the kids. He really is going for them cause he is a great daddy. I am hoping that he finds something for him-his happy place.
Creepy Disney interent buddy-can you imagine the reaction if they knew you have all my info-addy,ph,cell numbers. Cause I am sure you are really a 60 year old man raedy to jump on a plane to Phx and rob my house and abduct my kids:scared1::scared1:

I am sorry your mom gives you grief. My mom may not get it but she listens to all my plans. Now some other family......The trip was affordable and the memories will be priceless. I posted my calendar for your viewing pleasure.

I did go to DIsneyland a few times growing up. Family trips are very important to us as well. As far as priorities-do not get me started!

Love the countdown calendar. I need to get one done Sunday. I'm working hard on the MMC party now.

Sometimes I feel like a 60 year old does that count?...:lmao::lmao: Don't have to worry about me jumpin on a plane...I really don't like them and only sacrifice to go to Disney. Your friends/family and mine too would certainly flip out if they knew we had exchanged top super secret info. :upsidedow

We have a very similar plan with respect to where and how we spend our vacations. We are actually considering a land/sea package for next year. :goodvibes

Joe usually finds his happy place where the girls and I are hanging out or in a chaise by the pool with a beer. :rotfl:

I'm a little late..... I read the first few pages. As always I have some catching up to do!:)

No freaking way on the Land and Sea-so are we!! For Dec. I really want to see the world decorated for Christmas and we loved our cruise. And we will probably need that long to save up! Jeff is always much more happy with a beer LOL.

Cute countdown calendar. My countdown calendar is a daily pleasure... I think it is for the kids too:lmao: I love mine!!!!

And about your vent. You're entitled to vent about that stuff here. Luckily for me everyone is excited right along with me at work, and my friends and family are as welll..... but you get to the point where you know they've heard enough and you have to stop. Well, here... You never have to stop, we all want to hear it 24 hours a day!!!!!!!
