I currently have a reservation checking in on January 10th and due to travel arrangements I would like to check in a day earlier. The additional night is 76 points and I only have 50 points available. Therefore, I need 26 more points and there is a limit of 24 OTU points through member services - resulting in being 2 points short.
i have purchased transfer points in the past but in such a small quantity. Is this a likely possibility or should I begin my search for alternative accommodations.
Appreciate your thoughts and recommendations.

could you stay in another less point intensive place for the one night then move? I know; not ideal

I don’t think you will find someone to transfer 2 points so the only option is borrowing the extra, unless the 50 included that?

So, you could call MS to see if they have it for cash?

Maybe someone would be willing to sell you all 26 pts so you don’t have to buy OTU and then another 2 from someone else. Worth an ask around the rental/transfer boards

Just out of curiosity what are you trying to book? I can’t find anything that is 76 points on 1/10/25?

As others suggested I would do something less for the one night and then move. If you are booking a grand villa, 2 2 bedrooms is cheaper sometimes as well.

Edit: Sorry read the post wrong I see it now on the 1/9/25

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I would certainly be willing (and prefer) to purchase the 26 points from an individual versus through member services. I will monitor the rent/transfer boards. Just thinking people may not be willing to transfer such a small number of points since there is a limit on the number of transfers per year.

I am sure you will find someone on the boards!

Im trying to book a three bedroom at SSR u

One other thing can you just rent the one night and then bank the 50 points to next year?
Considering that as well . However the one thing I am trying very hard to avoid is having to change rooms (which is why I am trying so hard to extend my reservation).
However, what you are suggesting may end up being my best option. I could have them link the two reservations but unfortunately there would be no guarantee that we wouldn’t have to move.

As long as they are booked in the same category (preferred in this case) you shouldn’t have to move. They are not going to want to clean that two floor unit after one night when you have another reservation of the same accommodation type. Now of course if your other nights were the standard view you would have to move.

You might find someone willing to transfer under 30 points. Good luck!

Just curious if I was ever to do this in the future… For transfers in to make make the reservation need to be the same use year?

Sorry never transferred myself and my friend has a completely different use year than us.

They don't need to be the same UY but transferred points retain their home resort and UY. They can be banked but can't be borrowed. You have to make sure that the points you intend to transfer in will work for the reservation you are planning to make.

I think if you wait a little, you might find someone willing to transfer under 30 points. I suspect that people would rather transfer near the end of their use year banking date than actually bank the points, especially if they are renting points out. Good luck and peruse the rent/trade boards!

It’s all about when you want to travel and transfer in points that work. They put a temporary contract in your account to hold them…but they will be the same resort and UY.

For example, say you want to travel in Aug 2025…you can transfer any points that are eligible for that trip, as long as you would not need to borrow them.

Just wanted to provide an update…
Thanks to a very kind DIS/DVC member my problem has been resolved and reservation updated to include the additional night.
So appreciate people’s kindness and in this case an individual’s willingness ā€œto pay it forwardā€.
:thanks:
