I got what looks like 2 yellow tags--or is it really 4?
There's 2 strips of luggage ME tags. Are those for 2 bags or four?

DME only sends one tag per person, so you probably have two long tags. They will send extra tags if you call and ask. Don't try to make four out of the two you have.

It did used to be 2 per person, but with many airlines now charging for checked bags, they discovered that very few folks actually checked 2 bags per person. So to save money, they now only print and send 1 tag per person, then if a guest needs and requests more tags, they will send them out on a case by case basis.

Call & ask for more, but if the day of departure arrives and you still don't have the additional tags it is possible to cut them in half. Adhere them to the handle of your suitcase so that the code is placed so it's easily scanned. I've done this with quite a few bags/boxes and never had a problem.

Have a great trip!

Has anyone else recently "cut their tags in half" ?

We only got 2 tags for our family of 4. It looks as though cutting them in half won't be an issue, but I don't want to jeopardize the luggage pickup by DME.

I don't really have an issue in picking them up myself and lugging them onto the bus with us - but I'd also like to take full advantage of the DME service. I'm not sold on giving them my airline luggage tags to have them "search" for them.

I don't think your supposed to cut them - and if you do will the barcode be intact on both ?

I would just call and ask them to send out more tags rather than fooling with them.

I have also had success with DME delivering bags without the DME tags, just take a photo with your phone and identify them with a unique ribbon or duct tape in addition to your airline claim tags.

I did call 3 weeks ago for more tags.....and so far nothing !! We leave in 4 days, so calling again won't likely get them to us in time

I just re-read your OP and that is really strange to get 2 luggage tags for 4 people?? Double check your package to be sure that you have vouchers for 4 passengers and if not call to be sure they have the correct # of travelers.

I was actually wondering this today as well while packing our bags. We got 4 long tags, one for each person in our family, but we wanted to check another bag that is dedicated to just snacks and toiletries so we don't exceed the weight limit on the others. When reading the back of the tags it does sound like you can cut them in half. You would have all the same info on the tag. Hmmm??? Makes me wonder.....

The vouchers in our package have all 4 travellers. Even the on-line reservation info is correct :confused3

Good - at least no hassle with that :) Someone definately goofed when putting the package together as you should have a yellow tag for each person.

Safe and happy travel !

Upon closer review of my yellow tags, it is perforated in the middle. On the back side is says, "separate at the center perforation to create two single luggage tags".

I've never had to do this before as we always received enough for the full family. But seeing as they only sent me 2 tags this time, I will indeed separate them at the center and use them as 2 separate tags :thumbsup2
