2 Park Days, Hopping on 1 Day, Not the Other?

Our daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids will be joining us for 2 park days in Feb, she's buying the passes from UT this weekend. Depending on cost they may hop one day and spend a whole day at DHS the other. I'm assuming they'll have to get 2 tix for each of them to do this, one hopper, one not, correct?

You *could* do it that way, or buy a 2 day parkhopper. Cost-wise, buying two separate single day tickets (one hopper one not) is about the same as a 2 day PH ticket, so you aren't "losing" any money by having the hopper option both days but only using it on one of the days.

With multi-day (3+) tix, the park hopper tends to be a flat addon, so you'd take the hopper whether you're hopping one day or all (3+). But, it works a little differently when only doing a day or two. Picking a random day in Feb to start it, at UT, the 1 day with hopping and 1 without would run about $365 and the 2 day hopper about $376. Personally, for that small a difference I'd take the 2 day hopper and have that flexibility, but that's up to them. (and those numbers above could change slightly depending upon start dates)

Have her check prices -- and the WDW website may have the lowest price for 1- or 2-day tickets (resellers often upcharge those). Depending on dates, it may be less expensive -- or at least simpler -- to get a 2-day PH rather than individual 1-day tickets.

Enjoy your vacation!

Not a good plan, economically, for tickets of less than 3 days.

Agreed.
Disney does not discount 1-day and 2-day tickets to the authorized ticket sellers, so the most economical place to buy 1-day and 2-day tickets is directly from Disney.

That does bring up a good point. I've forgotten whether UT is sending out physical tickets or vouchers that you connect to MDE. If the latter, they'll have to be very careful to prioritize so that the right one gets used first, if they go for the separate tickets. Again, for the small difference in price, I'd skip the hassle and go for the 2 day PH's.
