We will only need lodging for 4 nights, and are already booked at an off-site for those nights. But...after reading these boards, I am considering AKL for the last 2 nights of our trip. Our budget is tight so we could'nt swing all 4 at AKL (we need a deluxe room to accommodate 5). Is this hotel change going to waste a whole day of our short trip. We did plan a "down day" to relax, but I don't know if this is worth the hassle. Has anyone done this for such a short trip? Is it worth the inconvenience? Just the thought of my kids seeing those animals grazing right outside there hotel room...

Any opinions would be appreciated!

Have you considered a value or moderate with a "code" rate for the first 2 nights? Then Disney will move your luggage for you:D !
Check out mousesavers and see if that is within your budget. Just a thought.:D

AKL is very accomodating about letting you check luggage prior to check-in (until your room is ready) and using their locker and pool facilities. There are plenty of areas to relax around the resort. They also hold your luggage at bell services if you have a late flight out so that you can continue to enjoy the resort after you have checked out. The AKL is a wonderful place! I would definately recommend two days there.

I wouldn't bother with a moderate, you can get a suite hotel off-site for the same price (probably less) and get a free breakfast.
Normally I wouldn't move for only 2 nights but since seeing animals out of your room is important to you I'd go for it. Plan on doing the AK or MK the day you switch. Drop of your luggage and go to the park. You can call and find out when your room is ready.

busy mom, I tend to agree with BibbidiBobbidiBoo, themoderates aren' that badprice wise and you can have one child sleep on an areo bed, that is just a suggetion. As far as you chaning for 2 nights I say go for it, why not, AKL looking out at the animals at night and first thing when you wake up in the morning is a real nice experience
:D

POR accommodates 5. If one is younger than 3, any room at any resort will work though. I did miss the part about 5 people earlier. It may be easier to go from Disney-Disney resort, just depends on your down day plans. The mod. prices are SO low with the codes, it is hard to resist!

I'm doing 2 nights offsite, 5 nights on-site, so no, you are not crazy. I'm hoping to get the off-site nights for free through points, but if for some reason I don't get it, I will stay at POR. I was originally going to do 7 nights at POR, but couldn't resist the Polynesian when the codes came out.

Have a nice trip. You'll love AKL. If this plan suits your budget, then go for it! You are not crazy. I've read posts of people switching resorts 3 or 4 times during a trip. They enjoy it.:D

When we went to Disney in Oct, we stayed at 3 resorts. For the first night, we stayed at the Courtyard in Downtown Disney, then 3 nights at the Yacht Club and then 3 nights at Hard Rock Hotel in Universal. This worked out really well for us. I love to hotel hop, my DH rather just stay in one hotel during the entire stay. We were able to check into our rooms at 8am at both the YC and HRH.

We're hotel hopping again in Dec. We're going to Royal Pacific after our Wonder Cruise and then a few days at the WL.

You might to check out Expedia and see if they give you a good rate for AKL. I was able to get an excellent rate for the WL from them.
