My husband and I are considering a 2-night, resort only stay in May 2025 prior to a cruise. The only thing we know for sure we will do is have dinner at California Grill. Pool time and cocktails are also on the list. There is always a chance we will change our minds and get park tickets, but right now that is not part of the plan.

Which resort would you pick and why? Looking for various perspectives.

AKV. Hated it for my park trip but for a couple resort focused days I’d do it. Gorgeous resort, fun to poke around and annimals! Easy enough to catch a rideshare to CR for your ADR so no need to deal with buses either.

If you are wanting to do a pool BCV is the way to go. BWV has the Boardwalk, sadly not as hopping as it used to be. Any of the monorail resorts would be great for resort hopping. you can hit Contemporary, GF, Poly and with a boat ride Wilderness Lodge. We love resort hopping and will be doing that in May as well. Hate the heat and had points to use or lose.
SSR is great if you just want to do Disney Springs.

As mentioned above it is easy to do ride share from almost anywhere on site. I don't think you could go wrong anywhere actually.

Full Disclosure BWV is our favorite, followed by BLT. I see the attraction to the pool at BCV, but don't do pools that much anymore.

Enjoy!

Second Wilderness Lodge! Love the Geyser Point area and amenities there and transportation to CR area.

If eligible to book, I’d vote for RiV. It’s so relaxing and it’s an easy to take the Skyliner to the Boardwalk area at night for additional food and drink options!

If not, then I choose VGF. Those are my top two resorts but I have done resort stays that included both and it was very nice!

CCV or SSR or AKV. While CCV is the closest to a park, it is far enough away and enough to do there to enjoy a couple days there. SSR is great for walking to DS aand AKV is also a resort onto itself

If I were going with no intention to visit any parks, I'd definitely want to be in Saratoga Springs first, then probably Boardwalk 2nd. Both offer walking or easy transportation options to dozens of restaurants and bars. Saratoga for access to Disney Springs, plus the lovely grounds for walking, nice pools, etc. Boardwalk for walking access to 5 other resorts plus skyliner to 4 more, providing plenty of dining and cocktail options.

Animal kingdom lodge hands down best resort only trip. It’s far from the parks, but such a unique hotel experience. A savanna view room would be great for sitting out on your balcony relaxing. You can use both kidani and Jambo pools

The Poly. This gives you an option to do a Monorail Crawl (bar hopping), Dole Whip, plus watch fireworks at night.

Two good pools, plus an easy Monorail ride to your California Grill reservation.
