2 new ships - what must features should they plan into the design?

They need larger women's bathrooms in the public areas. I was shocked how small the closest bathrooms were to some of the MDR restaurants. The lines of women and girls waiting was ridiculous. I could not believe the difference in this on the Dream class ships from the Classics. And these new ships are going to be even bigger, so PLEASE more toilets in the women's restrooms near the MDR's!

And sorry to disagree with you, Danceswithddsney but I would loathe a casino onboard. That is one of the big differences in DCL and every other cruise line. Having to walk through noisy, smoky casinos to traverse from one location to another on other ships is the pits. I've been on other cruise lines with casinos. Bleh. This is not meant to offend any gamblers out there, but many ports of call do have casinos to visit for those so inclined.

I agree. Unfortunately, this is a problem with all public restrooms I've found world-wide. For some reason designers/architects seem to think that men's and women's restrooms should be the same size. And it just doesn't work.

One time I was in a bowling tournament. The bowling alley had 2 men's and 2 women's restrooms. They took over one of the men's restrooms (changed the sign on the door to "women"), so that there were 3 for the women and 1 for men. That seemed to work well.

Resurrecting this thread to add my *wish* for the new ships. I would love to see one of the MDRs or another very large room have the ability to transform into a ballroom on formal night. You spend all that time and money getting all fancy and after the reception and dinner it's pretty much over. Why not have a Cinderella ball with a live orchestra or band? They could have the prince/princesses attend and dance, maybe put on a little show. There could be a red carpet for pictures and they could announce you as you come in, just as they did in Cinderella. Maybe more people would participate in formal night if there was more to it?

We had a "ballroom" experience on our Magic cruise in 2010. In Lumiere's there's actually a dance floor in the middle of the room, and Belle, Beast and others came and danced for us.

I like the thought of making it more of an experience.

EDIT: I found a few pictures:

Oh my goodness! Why don't they do this anymore? Or do they and we just missed out? We were on Magic in 2014 and didn't get to experience this, but my DD (and obviously me) would love it!

On my WBPC they had an Officer's Ball one night (I think semi-formal night which also was Mother's Day). The Captain and Minnie opened the ball and then a lot of officers joined in dancing with guests. It was held in the atrium. Of course dancing on the carpet there was difficult. But it was fun to watch and the guests who joined seemed to enjoy themselves.

Agree they need bigger restrooms by the mdrs but for both men and women. The women even more bigger. Sometimes I think they are giving out free gifts in there the line is so long. Sometimes it will just be faster to go to your stateroom. But there is a chance you do that and your stateroom host is in there cleaning. Need bigger bathrooms people eat and drink a lot in the mdrs. If my wife and I are somewhere and there is no wait for the restroom if I have to poop. I can poop and she only has to pee. Most times I will get done faster. So yes need bigger bathrooms for the women's.

Well, we (the guests) didn't dance, it was a "show". But it did make the "fancy" feel more real.

Yeah, we had one of those on our Hawaii cruise also. Very crowded.

I would like some real, good quality sushi. Maybe a sushi bar in the new Cabanas, or adults-only restaurant.
