So, a friend of mine has a tripped planned and is telling me she may cancel because she'll be 2 months pregnant (if all goes well and we hope it does!) at the time of her trip. Obviously she won't be able to partake in all of the attractions....but I want to convince her that she can still go and have a good time.

I would love to hear stories about those of you who have gone newly pregnant.

Thanks!

I went in December 07, I was two months pregnant at the time.

Other than steering clear of the thrill rides, I suggest planning for an afternoon nap and drinking lots of water. It was really no different than any other trip.

I've been two months pregnant, six months pregnant and with an 11 week old. Great trips - all of them !!!

I did 30 years ago no problem. You just can't go on som rides. My daughter, the one I was pregnant with 30 yrs ago, went last Sept 3 months along and she had a great time. Just go if no problems and have fun but take it easy.

I went once at 5mths pregnant, and had a WONDERFUL time. It was our last trip with no kids!! LOL Couldn't do any of the "good" rides, but I had done them all before and knew I'd be back again someday, so it was no big deal.

My sister went at 2mths pregnant (with us for my DD 1st bday!) She had morning sickness and a broken ankle so she was kind of miserable...she doesn't like to talk about that trip. LOL But we were all miserable...we all got some sort of flu bug (as soon as the plane landed - 1st time ever in the ER in FL) and DD ended up w/ Croupe. Not a dream vacation by any means.

This pregancy I was SO TIRED the first trimester I couldn't imagine being anywhere but my couch!! (Luckily I'm a SAHM so this was a possibility!) Now I feel great (at almost 4mths) and we're going in 3 weeks!! Yippee!

I think it depends on how she's feeling. If she's up to it, she should go! She'll have a great time! It's DISNEY!! Otherwise, maybe postpone it a month or two til the first trimester is a memory!

I went at about 3 months PG and just didn't do any thrill rides, but everything else was fine! NOt really any different than going not PG. I figure anything you can ride holding a baby on your lap should be fine for a PG person!

I was 8 weeks pregnant the last time I went to Disney
(2006) and it was fine. I had some morning sickness, but it wasn't unbearable and didn't hold me up.

Yes I didn't go on every ride, but there was plenty to do. Of course all the theater-type attractions were fine. And I believe I did POTC - the drop in the beginning isn't pretty small. Haunted Mansion, Great Movie Ride and such were also fine.

I obviously didn't do any thrill rides, but was able to wait on line with my husband and then went out the "chicken way" when he went on the ride. I also didn't dot he safari in AK as the roads can be very bumpy and I didn't want to take any chances as with the backlot tour and castrophe canyon.

The only ride I didn't go on because I wasn't feeling up to it was Soarin'. At the time I was nauseaus and was afraid the feeling of movement and such on Soarin' would make it worse.

I went in Feb. so didn't have to worry about the heat. But of course you should be well hydrated. It was a special trip for me as I felt it was the first time I shared the Disney magic with my baby. I bought some special souveniers for my baby - My First Disney Bear is now one of his favorite stuffed animals and he sleeps with it every night. DH was wonderful and understood when I needed a rest and didn't mind going on some of the attractions by himself. I had been to Disney many times and this was his first time in a very long time and I didn't want him to miss out on rides because of me. We all had a wonderful time.

The only suggestions to your friend is to first make sure she gets trip insurance. Being pregnant you never know and just in case she can't go for medical reasons she will get he money back with the trip insurance. Also, she should of course check with her Dr. and make sure everything is OK for travel. I flew (from NY to Orlando) and was fine.

It shold be fine for your friend to go when she's pregnant and there will be lots for her to do. But it should be up to her. If it's her first pregnancy and she's not sure or uncomfortable with the idea of going, then there's always another time. But for me it was very special being pregnant at Disney - I had lost 3 pregnancies before this one and I felt sharing the Disney magic with him was good luck.

We took a family trip when my DIL was 2 months along with DGS. She went on all the rides, mild and thrill alike. DGS is now 4 1/2. She had no issues like morning sickness. I say go and use your best judgement when it comes to the rides.

We went when I was 2 months pregnant (May 1997) and I had no issues whatsoever. At that point I didn't feel pregnant yet and morning sickness hadn't started, so no problems at all!

I've gone to Disney twice pregnant - 3.5m with DS and 2.5m this past January. Both trips were great fun! The first was a bit more challenging, because it was August and I was morning sick through that whole pregnancy. The more recent was great, in the cooler weather and during a less-sick pregnancy.

The best piece of advice I would give her is to talk to her OB about the trip before she makes any decisions. Both of mine gave me the go-ahead to listen to my body, rather than the warning signs, in determining what I can and cannot ride. My current OB is a mother and as much a Disney nut as I am, so she has some first-hand experience as well as professional expertise!

I did all the mild rides and most of the thrills without any problems. (I did skip ToT, RnR, Everest, and the extreme side of Mission Space, though I would have done ToT and Everest if I hadn't been the only one who wanted to ride!) That made a big difference in my enjoyment of the trip, because I really don't think I'd have liked a trip where I was constantly sitting on the sidelines for rides as tame as Kali River Rapids, the safari, Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear, etc.

I'm one of many moms who went in the very early stages of her pregnancy but one of the few who will admit that I did everything I wanted to, tame and trill rides alike. I'm happy to report that my daughter is now 9.5 yrs old and we're gearing up this weekend for her 4th(5th if you count when I was PG) trip to Disney.

Tell your friend whether she decides to ride the trill rides or not she shouldn't cancel her trip. She can still go and have a wonderful time. As for the rides, she should talk to her Dr. before leaving and use her own judgement- she and only she knows her body.

When we went last Nov I was about 11 weeks pg. My sister also came with us and she was about 26 weeks pg at the time. We had a great time. I didn't do any thrill rides, but I usually don't anyway. We took our time walking and I drank water all day. I had one morning that I felt sick, but we were having a pool day that day, so dh took the kids to the pool so I could have some time to recoup!

My worst part was the airplane ride. I think I was hungry and it was just an awful flight. I was so nauseous! I had motion sickness bands and had preggie pops. I made sure to eat something before the flight home and it was MUCH better!
