2 month old at Disney?

Hi all,
I have a friend, 30 something yrs old, who has never been to Disney! Her kids, 9 and 5, of course have never been either. Her DH has been once as a child.
She wants to go to Disney, but is pregnant......and a Teacher, so cannot just go anytime. She considered going at Spring break but I told her she might hate it if she went then, it would be really crowded, it would cost more, airfare was really expensive for the dates etc. She doesn't want to go in June, as by the time school gets out it will be almost July. Her kids now think they will never go since the baby is coming in Sept......So I suggested that she think about going in early-mid November, the baby would only be about 8-10 weeks old though. I suppose a lot depends on the baby, temperment etc. It should not be overly hot when she goes, so that, at least, should not be a problem. And she goes back to work after only 12 weeks, so probably right after Thanksgiving she'll be back at work.
So, I guess my question for my friend is who has gone with such little ones and would you do it again? I want her and her kids to love Disney!

Why is it that she wants to avoid the summer, besides the obvious heat problems! My husband is also a teacher so we have always traveled to Disney over the summer months (once with a 3 month old but we had a lot of extra help with on that trip, and needed it). I think it would be easier for your friend to travel with an 9-11 mo. old over the summer than to travel with a 2 mo. old in November. IMHO. Ultimately, it is her decision and what she feels most comfortable with.

I have actually taken my 3 girls to Disney for the first time at around 2-3 months. We were just there a few weeks ago with my yougest(2 months at the time) It can still be a lot of fun. and you can still do everything you would if the baby wasn't there. i say go for it!!!

We took our daughter down for the first time when she was 6 months old. It was a totally different experience for us. It was such a relaxing trip, since we didn't rush around to do all of the rides and stuff. It was actually a spur of the moment trip. My DH has some time off before his new job started. We just picked up and left to drive down to Disney on his last day at his old job. Granted, a six month old is a little different than a 2 month old. But if you don't mind going with the flow, it could work. And you have to be flexible with stopping for feedings and changings. I hope that your friend decides to go. Good luck!

We've been taking DD#2 since she was 4 weeks old....never had any problems and find that the younger they are the easier they are (for us anyway). We are fortunate to have very easy going children who are used to being on the go with us. We pretty much relax around Disney and aren't there to hit the rides and go commando. So I think it's definitely doable but you also have to think of how you want your trip to be. If you friend wants to see everything it may not be entirely possible.

I would definitely take the baby over going while 7-8 months pregnant. I don't know where they live but my dr. did not approve of me traveling in my third trimester. We took our youngest DD at 10 weeks old and it was a fabulous trip. It was probably one of the easiest trips we took with her. The lights and noise kept her stimulated so she slept great. I used a sling which made things much easier. It definitely helped that I nursed her. We had such a great trip that we will be returning in Sept when our new baby will be 3 months old.

My now 8yr old DS's first trip to WDW was when he was 3 months old. We wouldn't have necessarily planned to go with a baby that young (it was a trip with my parents, siblings and their kids and had been planned for years) but it ended up being fine. We were there in November and the weather was ideal; not too hot but not too cool. DS was still waking a few times at night to nurse so that made me a little more tired, but I had my dh and the rest of the family to help with my 4yr old so it wasn't bad. At that age they are still young enough to pretty much sleep anywhere no matter what is going on, and when he was awake he seemed to enjoy his surroundings. One of my dearest memories of that trip is seeing his little face light up with a huge smile in IASW. Each park has an awesome baby care center with very comfortable rooms for feeding, rocking, changing, etc. if you need a quiet break from the parks.

Glad to see this question posted. My sister is due in Sept. and is also a teacher. My dd's and I are planning a trip in November (we love this time of year down there....less crowds and still great weather for a New Enlander). She wants to come with us, but is unsure of the flights and how she will feel. I told her to play it by ear and if she still wants to go she can book her flight after the baby arrives (when she traveled with us last year - a long weekend for her-- she booked the flight a month before she left -- still got a great price!)

Honestly I think 2 - 3 month olds are soooo easy (except for our lack of sleep) compared to running around after a 1 - 2 year old in huge crowds!!

I too am glad to see this question posted. I have been trying to figure out when to go to WDW because I am due in Oct. I thought about going this summer before baby or in Dec when baby is about 2 months old. By reading your stories, I like the idea of bringing my new little one for baby's first trip to WDW. I do love the baby care centers! I just thik a trip to WDW could never be bad.

We have gone when each of my daughters were 2-3 months old. We found it to be very easy. I could nurse them on a lot of the slow, dark rides, and in some of the shows. There is also a very nice baby care station at the end of Main Street. As long as you're not going when it's hot, you should be fine.

We took our youngest when she was 5 1/2 months and then again at 18 months. The trip where she was 5 1/2 months was much, much easier and enjoyable. I think they'll be surprised at how "easy" it will be with a 2 month old.

November is a great month to travel in. The weather is nice and the parks aren't very crowded. AK has an awesome 'nursery' area for a pit stop. At that age they're pretty easy and shouldn't be any problem.
