So my DH doesn't ride anything more exciting than Peter Pan. This is our first trip and I am wondering if we can do a kid swap vs. parent swap? For those rides where it's a 2 person car can DH wait with one kid while I ride with kid 1 then i take kid 2 on while DH and kid 1 exit?

I believe they only issue a rider swap when you present a child that is below the height requirements.

Not at all. It applies to children (or even adults) who do not wish to ride, or don't meet height requirements.

Rider Switch
This handy feature allows adult Guests to take turns waiting with youngsters or Guests unable to ride.

Although the scenario above differs from the usual rider swap, I would imagine a CM would allow it if an adult does not wish to ride.

Unfortunately no - but you can sit 3 to a seat on many rides splash, btmr, space mt, TOT, soarin, mission space & test track come to mind. On others like RnRc or Everest it depends on how old they are, if both are over 7 they can sit together with you behind them. If only one is over 7 you can sit with the one that is under 7 and the 7+ year old sit in front/behind you.

Alternately you can use DH's MB for a FP+ and then ride with each of them separately using your DH's MB yourself for the 2nd ride.

As has been stated many times before, the official website is wrong and CMs will only issue rider swap passes to guests below the height requirement.

OP, you'll have to wait in line twice, or get FPs for everyone and then swap bands with him, or if your oldest is at least age 7, they can ride alone. Luckily, there are not many rides that will seat only 2 in a row, and all of them have FP available.

Almost all rides at MK can seat 1 adult and 2 small kids.....as I just went to the Halloween party with my 2 kids while DH stayed home. The only ride that we could not do this on was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train because of the way the seats are divided with the individual restraints (and of course Space Mountain). My kids are small....although they are 7 & 12.....and could ride together without me if they wanted to. On Space Mountain we all walked through the que line.....and my 7 year old and I took the exit route as my 12 year old was boarding a rocket....and we were able to wait for my 12 year old at the inside exit of the ride.....so she was never walking alone.

In most cases OP won't need to swap at all since three can ride together OK. If at least one kid is older than 7, then he/she is free to ride by him/herself on any ride while the other two are in another row or vehicle.

I was thinking Barnstormer and 7DMT specifically. I am large and the kids are 7 and 5. The 7 yo won't sit alone (the 5 yo would but I know she can't and I wouldn't want her to anyway! lol) She's tall enough for everything too, tall for 5!

My parents will be with us most of the stay so I think the only thing that is an issue is the Barnstormer. They will be with us the rest of the trip so it shouldn't' be an issue after that.

I rode Barnstormer with just me and my two kids, who were then 5 and 3. I sat in a row with the 3-year-old, and the 5-year-old sat by himself in the row in front. I have heard mixed reviews about whether or not they will always allow this (i.e. whether or not riding alone in a row but right in front of your parent is considered accompanied or unaccompanied).

I agree that Barnstormer, 7DMT, and BTMRR are going to be the ones where there are issues, since those are definitely 2 to a row.

For Barnstormer and Mine Train, is there really no way your DH would ride?

I do rides that I dislike or make me feel ill (EE and MS) so that my kid has a partner to ride with (and wait in line with). The other two family members won't ride. I suck it up for my kid....after all it's over very quickly and then we can do things I DO like.

kid swap is only for rides with height requirement than one of the children does not meet. it is not available if someone regardless of age or height does not want to ride.

99% of the time one parent can bring both kids and sit in the same car unless the kids are both fully grown teens.

In that case, you would have to sit with the 5 year old and the 7 year old would be either one row before or after.

I second this. Unless he has a medical condition, tell him to STHU and take one for the team and ride with the family. You can reward him later in the sack.

Not gonna happen. It's the first ride of the first day of a trip he doesn't even want to go on. He gets dizzy when I drive over small hills here at home. Making him miserable day one, ride one is not the way I want to start a week long first vacation ;)

I will see if I can swap back the FP but then he and the baby will have to wonder around till I go through with 2 kids with 2 FP's which is looking like a long process :(

Perhaps they can think of a way to deal with this situation like a FP+ y know since they have all the kinks worked out with it ;) lol

Use FP+ for these rides. Take one child with your band, and then use the his band for the second child. I do this all the time for my kids, on those two rides. It doesn't take long at all. You'd want FP+ for the mine train anyway, and they always seem to be available for the Barnstormer as a 4th if you want to hold off.

Wait, you have a baby? Then you can use rider swap. Produce the baby with your DH at the beginning of the ride and you can get the rider swap ticket.

Wait - do you have a baby in addition to the 7 and 5 year olds?
If this is the case then you can use Rider Swap!

Use FP or standby and ride with the first eligible child, when entering the line tell the CM you have a child who CAN'T ride and he/she will ask to see the baby.
You will then get a "rider swap pass" it is a paper pass that allows 3 people total to return and ride that ride anytime that day via the fast pass line.

Then DH takes the baby and the child riding 2nd to do something else, ice cream, a show or playground ect while you ride with the first child. Then sometime later that day you can take the 2nd child to ride.

Yes! Thanks you guys! I have a 2 year old too so I will "use" baby as you suggested! Thanks so much!
