I am trying to hit Hershey Park on the cheap. Checked Hotwire and I am getting a 2* hotel that includes breakfast for $65 per night. This rate includes breakfast and internet but does not list a pool or anything else in the amenitites. The site states that 100% of reviewers recommend this hotel. I checked Better Bidding and found nothing posted about the Hershey area. Most posts were for Philadelphia or Harrisburg. Can anyone PLEASE help me figure out what hotel this can possibly be. I would love to take the kids for one last outing before school starts but the 2* is making me nervous.

I am not sure about the one you are speaking about. We normally stay here, Hilton Garden Inn Harrisburg East
3943 TecPort Drive, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA 17111
Tel: 1-717-635-7299 Fax: 1-717-635-7298

It is very nice and clean and about 2-3 miles from Hershey park.

I don't know which it could be, but there are many, many older ones there from 40 years ago I remember. The main prices in season now are over $100 for a decent place.

I remember one hotle/motel right by Lucy's and as the one instructor at the police academy was hanging his suit, an a back to back room had vision to another persons closet and personal area.

I always use the Econo lodge at Grantville, right at route 743 I think, it is 7 miles straight into HErshey, at the exit from Interstate 81. I am not sure about a pool and Internet, check,. but the AAA rate is about $60 and it is clean, cereal and pastry type breakfast.
I like no traffic, rual ride to Hershey, feels so safe, Off season I love the Comdort Inn, low $. It is across from the motel from Heck.....

Thanks for the info. The lack of a pool is really scary to me because what motel does not have a pool? It was the 100% guest satisfaction that almost had me. I appreciate your honesty. I see you are in PA so you have an idea of the area.

May I please tell you that I just went through a near nightmare tonight with Hotwire? It was not for Hershey, Pa--but it is a lesson about what can happen with auction sites. I did my research and found that there was only one hotel that fit the description on Hotwire at 2 1/2 star and it was a brand new hotel. What did I get? A two star flea bag--really, really awful! I called Hotwire and they told me that some sites called this dump a 3* so when they averaged it, they gave it a 2*. It is literally the worst hotel I've ever seen. There was a happy outcome for me--but only because I am a long-time customer who has never complained.

Oops...I meant to say when they averaged it they gave it a 2 1/2 star--even though Tripadvisor and Hotels.com gave it a 2*.

We just got back from Hershey last night.

We stayed at a Country Inn & Suites (was not cheap) BUT.... it was in Harrisburg. We were about 10 miles from the park, and the drive took us about 15 minutes.

Anything in Philly would be a far drive....but Harrisburg isn't that far from the center of Hershey.

I personally prefer the Mainstay Suites in Grantville. Every room is large and has a kitchenette with range, microwave, and full-size refrigerator. The hotel has an indoor pool, indoor minature golf, and indoor basketball. An extended continental breakfast (muffins, cereal, bagels, pre-made waffles) is included. The highest price I've seen is $95 in the summer.

Not to take over, but we are thinking about staying in Elizabethtown. We are going to both Hershey and Dutch Wonderland. Has anyone ever stayed at the Holiday Inn Express there? It is the only hotel in Elizabethtown, so I was thinking about doing Priceline to get it lower than $145. It doesn't have a pool, but it does have a pretty good breakfast included. Any thoughts? TIA!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Chocolate Avenue. Was very close to the park and very clean. It was a little pricey but great. We stayed at White Rose Motel before and it was horrible.

Which one? The one we stayed at on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg has a mid-week special right now for $103 a night if you stay 2 nights. It's 4 miles and less than 10 minutes to the park, clean, pool, and free hot breakfast.

When it said "new" do you think it meant newly built or under new ownership? I'm going to be quite honest; I live not even 5 mins. from Hershey and there are a few "mom & pop" motels located right along Rt. 422. In all the times I've driven by them, I don't recall most of them having pools. They also seem to change ownership/names often. None of them really look like places I'd want to stay. Also, I don't recall any new hotels being built recently. The only one I can think of is north of Hersheypark off of Rt. 39. It is in the process of being built and when finished it will be a Country Garden Inn & Suites. Like I said, it is only being built and isn't opened yet. This is just food for thought.

Some of the other hotels mentioned do seem rather nice when driving by. You may want to look into those.

Sorry to just jump in but I am also looking for a hotelbut closer to duychwonderland for the last week of Aug. Hotwire had a 3 star for$75 had 95% costumer approval but when it shows the ammenities a pool is not one of them however all the lower star ratings do:confused3 Really need a pool for the kids, any idea which hotel discount site is better?:)

The 100% reviewer recommended could be based on only 1 review.

Maggie

Did you look at Bidding for travel dot com? That's what I use for priceline/hotwire. It's on yuku dot com.
