DH has a 4 hour rule. If it's more than a 4 hour drive we fly! He doesn't mind the driving as much as he minds the other drivers. Plus he likes to look around and he can't to that as much when he is focusing on the road.
You will so enjoy the DLH. I upgraded us for our upcoming trip just so that DH can check out the property. Though we have stayed there many times, we've always had long park days. But this trip, due to flight times, we will have time to walk around the property and play with the jungle boats. Hope you have a great time. It is so cool that you can take your mom!!!

I agree with the other drivers thing. The worst part of driving on the 10 into Cali is having to share the freeway with all of the trucks. They take up too much room and drive to slow. Not to mention the fact that if there is an accident on the 10 it backs up for miles.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope some of your good vibes about your trip finds its way to her.

We had a fabulous time. It was wonderful meeting you and I encourage you to do less lurking! Oh and by the by... thank you for those fastpasses. They were put to good use! I feel so bad that I forgot to snap a picture of you. I wanted to take a pic of any DISer that we met in the park but by that point you caught me off guard as I had not met anyone else yet.

For the first time in 5 days I am sitting down and really relaxing. After the significant amount of walking I have done in the last few days, it feels like my Achilles tendons are going to snap. I'm glad I'm sitting.

Overall it was a good trip. It had it's up and downs... its good times and drama. All of which of which I expected fully. It happens. I know how my mother and I behave around each other and while we have a closer bond than we ever have had before, we still have much we cannot stand about one another.

My mother had a lot of trouble keeping up, even in the wheelchair... so she spent a lot of time out of the parks. The time she did spend in the parks she seemed to enjoy. Where as Chris and I enjoyed spending our trip in the parks my mother wanted to see something other than DLR. She actually got to do something that she has been wanting to do for a while now, and was thrilled that she got to. (I'll explain more about that later.)

We never got that much sleep. None of us. I felt bad that Chris had to share a bed with me. I toss and turn a lot. We got to bed late every night and got up and had to rush to get ready every morning. It was painful. Alas, it is the pain that comes with an obsession.

We spent more money than we should have, but we enjoyed what we used it on. I can't say anything for Chris, but I can say there was at least a couple frivolus items that I spent my fundage on. But I would not have had it any other way.

All in all... it was a very magical trip.

First, I have a mother/child relationship quite like you explained yours to be and while I love her to death, a vacation with my mom would be very taxing. In my case it'd be very bitter sweet that she'd spend her time out of the parks. I'd need the break!

Second, my best friend will be joining us to do Disneyland next year and she asked why we'd be staying in Anaheim for 5 days. When I told her 4 days for the parks, and a day of beach she flipped out. She said she couldn't stay in the parks for 4 days, that there isn't that much to do (mind you, the last time she was at DL was 25 years ago ). Can you believe that?? Some people just DON'T get it! She decided to come on her own and spend only 2 days in the park.

Third, I'm so thrilled that you had an overall good time. Furthermore I think it's awesome that you have a friend like Chris who could go with you....twice! I'll be looking for more "The Junior Defenders" pinky photos

I had a great time, loved seeing all of the halloween attractions and decorations, halloween is my favorite time of year and combining it with DL made it even better!
