I went to the AAA office in Orlando today to pick up my Annual Passes. The cashier told me that I could purchase the 2FOR1 tickets now, but couldn't use them till Tuesday July 1. I am going this weekend so that didn't work. But she did confirm that from July 1 on, I could take the tickets back to Universal and they would upgrade them for another year for the difference. She stressed that I had to keep the receipt and that it had to be done at the park.

I then asked about the coupon, and she said the coupon would be needed at the park. So I called a Burger King in Orlando and they said they had the coupons, but they weren't allowed to give them out until June 30.

Well that is the info for now. At least I have my passes, and I will upgrade them next week. I'll let you all know how smooth (hopefully) it goes.

Hi George -

Thanks for the update. The 2 years-for-1 sounds like a great promotion. We won't be in Orlando until July 19th, so hopefully there will still be some coupons left at the Burger Kings.

You said the AAA office was able to sell the tickets (vouchers) now but they couldn't be activated until July 1st. Did the AAA clerk say they would require the coupons as well?

Thanks in advance, Steve

For those who haven't been following, this is a propmotion on Universal/IOA Annual Passes. More info can be found at this AAA site:

Texowl2,
Go to the link on DVC California's post and scroll down to 'Rates and Ticket Prices".

Okay, I took my passes, my AAA receipt and the Burger King Coupon to IOA tonight to upgrade according to the AAA information.

AAA said and on their website states that if you bought your AP after June 1, but before July 1, you can upgrade to the 2yr pass for $5.20.

Well that isn't true. Universal claims that AAA is incorrect in their claim. I thought it was too good to be true, so I printed the entire AAA website about it.

Universal claims that what they will do is credit you the price of the AAA ticket ($161.00, yes the price AAA paid for the ticket, not what you paid.) They also said they would not credit the tax back.

So in short, they say to upgrade it would cost $18.00 per person. Which really isn't too bad since it adds a whole year.

Fortunatly the IOA rep said they wouldn't penalize us for AAA's mistake and offered the upgrade for the $5.20, but asked to keep the document and said they would contact AAA to have them change it.

They offered all this without me having to really complain, I just showed them what I had and they offered the resolution. So I really have to hand it to them for their customer service. And as a bonus, she told us if we didn't go in tonight, the new passes wouldn't activate and count down until we did. Since we are going on a 2 week vacation away from Orlando, that gives us 2 more weeks in the the 2 year period.
