Well, I have such a deep love for DCL (and my kids) that this hurts-almost- to write ;)!
We cancelled our 2019 DCL Alaska with our kids to a 4 night on the Magic in Jan '19 FOR JUST MY DH AND I. Still haven't told the kids. We also booked a 10 Night Greece & Italy cruise on NCL in April '19 that we ARE bringing the kids on. So after 5 DCL, #6 will be the first for just DH and I, and Greece/Italy will be our first on NCL.

So share your experience on DCL if you left the kiddos behind. We plan on doing Palo either brunch and dinner and the adult pools for sure.

We've done all our DCL cruises as adult-only. Either just my husband & me, or with family (sister/brother-in-law/other in-laws/adult kids). Truthfully I don't see it as much different (in the aspect of adult vs family) as any other cruise. It's just that Disney is, well, DISNEY. All others are..... others.

My preference for Palo is brunch, but since they changed the dinner menu a couple of years ago, it's better (IMO) than it was for dinner.

We haven’t done DCL without our girls but we *might* be going next fall for our 30th anniversary without them. They are now 14 and 18. I am excited for you!

DH and I went to DW just us two for our 20th (DDs 9 and 5) and 25th (DDs 14 and 10) anniversaries. Disney adult only trips are super fun!

The Palo brunch is great! We like a mix of vacationing/cruising with and without our kids (although with them getting older and cruising, they don't want to spend all of their time with us anymore, last trip we had to drag them out of the kids club for family time!).

Curious what made you go with NCL?

From our 3 cruises without our kids, DCL is a great adults only experience. In fact, as the kids got into the teen years, the majority of time we spent on family cruises turned into adult only as we never saw them. LOVE Palo Brunch. Dinner is great too but we prefer brunch.

We have done many cruises just the two of us and we love it!
Don't miss Palo brunch, it will be a highlight for sure!

have fun!

We celebrated our 25th anniversary on the Dream, just the two of us. We did a 4 night and just enjoyed the relaxed pace. We were in a Cat T, dined in for dinner several nights. Very enjoyable cruise.

We have cruised as adults pre-kids and then again as adults without them post kids. We found that going on a cruise without kids after kids is a little different than without kids before kids. Just in how it felt. You appreciate having time to do nothing. Not worrying about when the kids club activities are, sitting at the bottom of the mickey slide, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love those memories, but it's just different. We were seated with other adults our age at dinner. We spent time in the adult areas of the ship. In fact if it weren't for the stage shows and dinner, you wouldn't really know that there were kids on board. It's a nice treat for yourself for sure!

Our first DCL cruise was without kids :P and we absolutely loved it. We learned so much about cruising and honestly, it was so relaxing. Of course our upcoming cruise includes 2 of our 4 kids (the 2 youngest) but we are planning on booking our 5th cruise while on the ship and do it without the kids. Ive always wanted to do either the EBPC or WBPC but kids are always in school and that just too long to take them out so we are doing it alone :-)
