Probably a really stupid question and train of thought.....Our family of 4 is traveling with another family of 4. We are finalizing plans and will probably eat together a majority of the time for TS meals.

I'm assuming just one of us makes the ADR when we eat together because Disney needs to know that 8 are dining at one table versus 2 four person tables. Am I making sense? LOL. We've been 2 other times, but never traveled with another family!

You are correct. One person should make the reservation for the maximum number of people who might be going. This way the CMs at the restaurant will know that you need a table for 8. If you book separate reservations for 2 parties of 4 you will probably have to wait longer for a large table or 2 smaller adjacent tables or you could end up on opposite sides of the room.
