Hi

We are starting our planning, we normally stay at one of the Disney hotels.

This helps a lot as both my wife and I need to use an ECV, my wife can just about cope with out one for a bit, but not all day, most ride I need to take the ECV or a wheelchair to get on the ride, as I need good light and on it on the flat and a wall on my left hand side for me to walk more then 100 meters.

Next time we are thinking or trying out some of the other parks.

The problems how to get to the parks with 2 ECV around.

want is better?

moving hotel, so we do stay in Disney for most of it, and then move to a Universal hotel?

stay at Disney with a car/van?

Stay somewhere between the 2 and use a car/van?

use the local buses?

any other thoughs?

We are also weight up if I should, change to a power chair, as if it gets to hot I can not use my right arm at all, and I only have control of my left arm as long as it is close to my body. This is the other plus point of staying in a Disney hotel, they can help and we had needed they help a few time to get back to our room.

First of all I do not know of any car that will handle two standard size ECVs. Several years ago I was traveling with another family and even with the largest car we could get we could not fir two ECVs and a total of six people.

We looked at SUVs, but they could handle the two ECVs but not the six people.

Renting a ramp-equipped van will cost about $100 per day.

Mears, which operates most of the taxi companies, has about 20 accessible vans and the prices are the same as a standard taxi. I don't know if they could handle two ECVs in one of their vans. You might contact them at http://mearstransportation.com/

I they I used Mears late time, when we went out the night of my wedding, where I was on foot, want was some of my problems, as i ended having a fit.

Disney helped a lot, that night a lot, we where at 1900 park fair, So we like Whie the pooh, got there my bus and manorial, start the meal, had a fit before I had any thing to eat, Talk to Disney cast members, the easiest way for us to get back to our rooms was by Taxi and they had a cast member waiting for us at our hotel to help and make sure we got back to our rooms safely.

We find the cast members do any thing they can, with inside the rules, and we want not be able to come with out them, need to thank them more and it is one of main things that keeps bring us back.

We rented a toyota highlander and were able to get 2 ecv's in the suv. Now, if your both using the ecv, is there another person there to take apart and load the ecv's? These were the regular size ecv's, we rented from walker mobility, so if thats the type of scooters that fit.

We had 4 people, and all the stuff fit in the back (luggage area). Now, we are good packers and we fit it in there snuggly. But, you would have to have someone who can lift up the heaviest pieces.

The Mears accessible vans can handle two ECVs. It is like $18 RT per person to Universal from a Disney resort.

We've done that a few times even when we had a car of our own. Loading and unloading the ECVs, plus the gas expense, plus the parking expense at Universal just didn't add up. The Mears accessible shuttle was way more convenient.

Sound good.

So staying in Disney is looking ok.

and getting to Universal will not to hard.
