The IDEA for a THEME.....

Anyone who knows parties knows they go better with a theme... pirate: Masquerades need their masks, :cool1: Togas need their sheets, Picnics need their baskets...People have a right to know what to expect, right? (Don't want anyone forgetting their togas...) Makes sense to me... As such our theme had to center around the Sorority meeting for the first time. I wracked my brain for ideas to the point of wondering if I had finally reached the age where I should be using Gingko Biloba... :confused3 Not usually at a loss for picking themes and getting nowhere fast trying to come up with one... I decided not to worry about it. When it hit me, I would know. Where is FIGMENT when you need him?? I continued my day job with no one the wiser. Little did they know that my mind was always searching for THE THEME!! I even asked for help from the boards initially to put me on the right track, but still nothing grabbed me! :worship: (*Thank you SO much for trying to help, Bambi Tamby and Lou. You are both so good to me!)

With my mind idling :bored: one afternoon as I was watching TV, there was my inspiration! A VIAGRA commercial! (I never was really sure why that good looking race car driver had VIAGRA plastered all over the hood of his car..but that sounds like a thread for the Debate Board!) I realized I was looking at the answer.... race cars, checkered flags... Of course! A SPARK! A trip to WDW is always a RUSH! Exhilarating AND exhausting as you rush from place to place. Never enough sleep... staying up late, getting up early.. Doing the "Dumbo or Die" 1 Day Touring Plan.."RUSH" WAS definitely THE RIGHT WORD! So now that I was on the right track, one thing led to another and a SORORITY RUSH just seemed to FIT! (*This being a G rated thread we will omit the VIAGRA angle... 'K?) :bitelip:

Continuing along that vein, this would be our INAUGURAL DISMEET and none of us had OFFICIALLY been inducted. (SURE they'd memorized THE MOTTO and sang THE SONG, but how do I know they were REALLY singing out LOUD? And then there's the secret handshake. I'll bet no even practiced it...) YES, as themes go, IT WAS PERFECT!! You have to hand it to that little purple dragon, when he's on... he's ON!

Now those who know me even a little bit know I like things to be right... Not perfect, Heaven knows I can only aspire to that! So when I do SOMETHING IMPORTANT I am a bit "Focused" shall we say.. (my children prefer the word "obsessed"!) So I dug in with not even a full 12 months to prepare! YIKES! Better get crackin'...! :headache:

Months of planning are really not months when you think about it... after all you have to sleep 8 hours out of every 24. Then you have to work another 10 (if you add lunch and a commute!)... That really only TECHNICALLY leaves you with 3 to 4 months of time left... Of course, family, friends, and church take up about half of that! YEOW! I only have about a MONTH AND A HALF :scared: to make this happen! That's not NEARLY enough time! So I'll need to cut out lunch, that gives me back an hour a day.... I could drive a little faster and gain another 5 mins each way... YEAH! and heck... who really needs 8 hrs of sleep when 4 or 5 will do? I can work on projects in the TV room with the kids while they are doing their homework. That will free up another hour of quality family time per day..... I feel better now, knowing I have at least 3-4 months to get things ready! :faint:

Gosh Denise if you're this :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: just retelling the story, what must have you been like leading up to it? :p

Don't ask my husband and kids! They'll only LIE! LOL! :p Of course our living room became the staging room for the crafts! I was OK as long as nobody messed with my hot glue gun!

I do believe a lot of glue sticks were used! This woman had endless energy and creativity! I wish I could bottle her!

Great job Denise!

Oh, Disbug, I know EXACTLY what you mean. You are too funny!

It sure was nice meeting you two weeks ago in #1hockeymom's suite over there at the AKL. She had raved about you before you had arrived, and after reading your trip report, I can see why -- you are Superwoman, hear you roar!

I hope our paths get to cross again in the future.

Janet

Disbug=perfection! :D You made us all feel special and I certainly believe the "rush week" was magical because of your efforts.

zurgswife~ Thank you very much! (PS I agree with Lou about your new family pic! Fabulous looking happy family...)

#1Hockeymom~ You picked up on that about me didn't you? No one wants to hear me say (esp. in the morning).... Has anybody seen my hot glue gun? That usually causes everyone to scatter... I always keep it loaded and ready for action! LOL!

Janet2K~ After reading through your current trip report, you WOULD understand! LOL! No planning detail was TOO small when it concerned the comfort or entertainment of your family and friends... I was especially fond of how you wanted to keep your SummerHouse "picnic" dinner relaxing and conducive to conversation. It was my pleasure meeting you and Nutz4dzny, as well!

Mouseteacher~ Oh, I am so glad! I worried that I didn't get to see you enough, but I know you had a great time with those two handsome Red Sox fans you brought with you! You are indeed special and thank you for the compliment.

On to part three! :bounce:

Disbug~ Having 2 male members of my family in tow = not understanding the importance of the female DIS "thing" (as they called it) aka Sigma Delta Sorority meet! :D So, the time we did have together was wonderful. I just wish I had more time to be with you, Debbie and Jenny during your sorority shenanigans after I had to return home. :sunny: Hey, next time I should just leave them home ... NOT ...like they would let me.
