If an add-on is purchased via resale, is it linked to the current member number, or is a second number/I.D. card issued? It would be a different use year, but the same resort, if that makes a difference at all.

I'm not sure of the answer, but if it helps you, we have two contracts and one ID number. Both contracts are same use year and same resort.

I'm curious about other's answers to this question because we are thinking of adding on ....

We have four contracts through Disney with the same use year, but three different resorts. These are numbered XXXXX.1, XXXXX.2, etc.

We have one other contract that we purchased resale with a different use year, but the same resort as two of our other contracts. That kept the original contract number (at least it is different from the other contracts that we have). This one is XXYYZ.1.

We usually have to remind MS about the other contract when we use our points. We have to tell them to use the Dec contract and not one of the other contracts.

Technically, an add-on is only done thru DVC. Resales are actually separate contracts.

In reality, as noted above, DVC can sometimes make the resale an adjunct to your master contract if the Use Year is the same. Sometimes, they may do this without instruction but, to be safe, you might need to request that DVC do that if you wish.

If the resale has a different UY, it will be a separate contract- with it's own member number and membership card.

I think there are advantages to having all under one contract, but having multiple contracts is certainly workable.

Good luck! :)

As a rule DVC links all contracts where the ownership and use year is EXACTLY the same under one master. If it's different use years it must be different master contracts.

Thanks everyone...we are considering a resale with a different use year as I think it will suit us better with our current vacation patterns. We can't buy direct from Disney as we want more OKW and live in a state where they are only licensed to sell SSR. I know we could buy while in Orlando...but the points on our existing contract have run dry -- so we need the resale to be able to visit again. Is this a Catch 22 or what? :rotfl:
