Planning August trip to wdw. Will be leaving montreal around 4AM.
Friends who will be vacationing with us at wdw will be leaving from Toronto. We plan on doing more than half of driving the first day-about 15 hours. My question is where (state/city) would be a good point to stop for a hotel that my friends from toronto could meet
up with us at? Is it even feasable that we hook upie. do our separate routes meet at some point on way down to wdw?
I know this is a bit of a challenger but maybe someone can help?

This is an interesting challenge. First, it depends on your route to WDW. If you plan on taking I-95 from the New York City area, you could meet up with them around the Charleston, SC area, actually Walterboro SC . That is dependent on their driving south on I-77 from the intersection of I-81 and I-77 at Wytheville, Virginia and then taking I-26 east to I-95.

It is feasible to meet up with them if you want to take the time to plan on the location and the time. You have plenty of time to organize it.

Try posting your query on the Canadian Visitors board, as many there have very strong opinions on the issue of driving routes, and likely have more experience from your direction than do the folks on this board (having lived in Montréal myself for several years, I have opinions on your routes, but less on those out of TO. CAA might also have a suggestion or two.

In general, if you are going during a more temperate time of year, it is hard to beat the Mountain route thru the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains, and avoiding the traffic of the major East Coast US cities. Possible meeting place of two routes might be Wytheville VA where the 81 meets the 77. Out of Mtl, you might head to Plattsburgh, taking the 87 to 287 (NJ) to 78 to the 81 to where it meets the 77; a beautiful 13 hr drive. From TO they might hit the border around Buffalo/ Niagara Falls, then 90 west to the 79 then south to the 77 and to the meeting point in the mountains (maybe 10 hrs). Maybe have a nice dinner together and find a nice hotel up in the mountains there (not sure if either is available), then the next morning heading south on the 77 to 95 and eventually to the 4 into Orlando 9-10 hours later that afternoon.

Sure there are more direct ways, but few prettier. Coming from Boston we try to avoid NYC, and eventually connect up to the 81 then to the 77 and south. But again, post your query on the Canadian Visitors board for plenty of other opinions.

Bonne chance et beaux voyages!

Thanks for your replies. I have to admit that the less stressful route
definitely is tempting! Have also posted in Canadian Forum.
Thanks again for the help. I thought it was about 28-30 hours drive from Montreal to Orlando?
