Ok so my family is going for a very short trip. 2 days, 1 at DCA and 1 day at Disneyland. My question is if Disneyland has the early morning hours should I go there even though I don't get in early, or go to DCA...Real ? is does the morning extra hour make a big difference in park attendance / maxpass, or really don't worry about it... I'm thinking going to the park without the extra hours as maybe its less crowded or am I overthinking this?

Are you asking if you should even go to the park late on an Extra Magic Hours/Magic Morning day? In my experience, the morning hour really only makes a huge difference in regards to big attraction wait times. Once when I went on a very crowded holiday weekend, Fastpass distribution was heavily impacted and Space no longer had Fastpasses available a few hours into the morning. But basically, I don't think it will make a huge difference in your stay. Maxpass definitely helps.

I personally try to avoid any of the EMH/MM if they are not available to me. We actually have MM available to us on our trip next weekend and we are still not going to use it. I think it's just personal preference thing though, not sure if it really helps avoid crowds or gives any advantage. I think the biggest thing when going to DL is having a plan of attack/be there at RD. I've been to DL numerous times and we always RD. You can get all the headliners done by mid-day honestly.

We always avoid them. When we go in Oct, we'll purposely be rope dropping DL Fri and DCA Sat for this reason. We do always rope drop, whether we have hoppers or not.

Ok so you all think do DCA when land has mm and do land when dca has mm... plan engaged!

When are you going? I will be there next weekend and we are basically doing what @disneycat321 said. RD DL on Friday and RD DCA on Saturday. If you want, I'll come back and let you know how it goes! I haven't rope dropped the parks since MaxPass was introduced (I've been going with people who aren't as intense as my family lately so we show up AFTER RD--the horror!) so I'm interested to see how that impacts my usual touring strategies.

It only matters for folks who show up at roper drop or within the first hour of the park day. If that is you, do the opposite park which has EMH. If you are the type likes to sleep ion and/or have a long breakfast, and arrives 1-2 hours after park opening, it will not matter.

DLR is not like WDW where EMH sways park attendance all day. Too many parkhoppers and too few guests with EMH/MM privileges compared to WDW.
