My family and i will be staying at Royal Pacific Hotel in Sept for 1 night. We are going to take advantage of the front of the line access for two days. I am considering upgrading our 2 day 2 park tickets to annual passes but i want to visit the parks first before i make that decision. It's been a few years since i've been to universal and a lot has changed. Not sure if its enought to do an annual pass. We have disney annual pass and go all the time. We live about an hour an half from orlando. What are your thoughts and does anyone know how much time i would have to upgrade those tickets. TIA

You have until park closing on your 2nd day to upgrade the tickets. Living that close to Orlando, I'd say it's definitely worth it.

You will get a discount on your hotel room with the annual pass. The discount could pay for the annual pass.

You won't necessarily get a discount. There are dates in September with no discounts.

True, and with the OP only living 90 minutes away, I'm not sure there's a need for a hotel discount anyway.

She's staying at RPR on this trip.

That said, isn't there a Florida discount still? I remember FLO was a discount for residents (and they DO check ID for that at checkin) that you could check.

OP we had APs from 2011 until last year. Made excellent use out of them. One trip was 8 days at Portofino. We never got bored during our trips (though the 8 day one was difficult because my son and I had gotten terribly sick while at wdw and our entire rather lomg overall trip was ruined...by the time we got to Uni all we were doing was resting and recuperating...he and I barely hit the parks at all)

Thanks everyone for your comments. We do stay close to the parks but are trying to take advantage of the front of the line access by staying at one of the resorts. I've been wanting to stay on property for a while and we think this would be a good balance and a lot of fun. If we do get the season passes it will just be myself and my daughter. My husband is okay with a univeral trip but he just doesn't think its worth getting a season pass. My daughter and i love the parks - Disney and Universal. I'm trying to figure out which discount would give me the most band for my buck. They are offering a seasonal/annual pass discount now through August and we want to go in Sept?!?!. I'll keep my eyes open - we are only staying one night so I don't think it will be to bad. I'm getting excited about the trip. I haven't been to univeral in years.
