We've got 8- 4 adults and 4 kids in a 2 BR Villa at BoardWalk and we're wondering if we'll be crowded? I know a 2BR villa is meant to sleep 8 but does that mean you can SHOVE 8 people in there or you can fit 8 in the room comfortably??

Eight is the max allowed in the 2BR, so, yes, it's a little tight, but a lot depends on your relationship to one another. (Two sets of spouses who will sleep in two beds makes it a little easier, for instance.) Will the children be comfortable sleeping 2 to a bed? There is a king in the master BR, a queen and a fold-out double or queen in the second BR and a queen fold-out in the living room. I might be tempted to bring along a sleeping bag or fold-up mattress if you think any of the children will sleep better in beds by themselves.

The bathrooms aren't bad space-wise since the sinks are separated from the showers and commodes.

Hope that helps some. (You'll get lots of info. about BWV over on the DVC board if you need it. I love BWV!)

2 in king in the master bedroom
2 in queen sofabed in living room
2 in queen of the second bedroom
2 in double sofabed in second bedroom

Can you take a couple aerobeds for the kids so that those on the sofabeds don't have to share? Sometimes small kids can sleep on the cushions of the sofabeds on the floor. If the kids are small, it might not be too bad but if they are older it's going to be crowded. You also have the large master bathroom and the smaller second bedroom bathroom.

As far as "Space" you'll be fine, it's the sleeping arrangements that might be a problem if the adults aren't couple or kids won't share beds.

You can always pack along aerobeds for the kids. The only other problem I see is if you are planning on eating any meals all together--there aren't enough seats at the table.

You'll love the BW!

Have you considered staying in a 2 BR at OKW instead of BWV? OKW's 2 BR will give you a lot more room than BWV, and with your group size you might really appreciate every square inch! OKW has a much larger kitchen, dining table, lr and laundry room then any of the other DVC resorts and the 2 nd br has 2 queen beds vs 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa. All these things will come in very handy with the # of people and the age make up the group you have.
OKW will not be as conveniently located to parks, restaurants, nighttime entertainment, etc as BWV, so you will have to either take a bus or drive vs just walking to many things but the trade off of convenience of location for larger units will be greatly appreciated by your sized group. 8 people in an OKW 2 BR is definitely do-able, a little cozy but fine; 8 people in any other WDW DVC 2 br is pretty crowded, especially if you have 4 kids. I would also strongly suggest having at least one car if you stay at OKW. OKW has only bus service to everywhere but DTD, and though the bus service is fine it is a lot more convenient to have a car. Other than AKL, OKW is definitely more removed from the major park/dining areas than the other deluxe resorts are.

If two people are sleeping on the pullout couch in the living room, that obviously means that they can't go to bed until everyone else leaves the living room OR everyone else has to leave the living room to let the people/kids staying on the couch get some sleep.
