2 Br Slopeside on Whistler-Blackcomb Marriott (Residence Inn)

We have a confirmed reservation for a 2 Br unit at the Residence Inn by Marriott slopeside at Whistler-Blackcomb. The dates are March 22 through March 29 (7 nights). We may not be able to make the trip west and may be willing to rent this or trade for equivalent DVC points/reservations we could use at Topnotch at Stowe (assuming there is availability).

This isn't your typical Residence Inn. It is first class and the resort is sold out for those dates (prime season in British Columbia). Even with the great exchange rate the room goes for $500+ a night US$ if you could get it. Rental would be $2,500. In a trade for points I'd be looking for 2 Br/Dream Season points (300). This is a great room for someone to use if we can't.

I'm confused. This is just a hotel reservation right. If that's the case, just cancel it with no obligation. If it's a Marriott rewards reservation, I'm pretty certain those cannot be transferred.
