anyone else besides me - like to see 2 queen beds instead of 1 queen bed and sleeper sofa in any new studios.

now I don't mind the sleeper sofa - but on my old back these things are beginning to be a pain.

a 1-bedroom won't help - same situation.

But that would take away one of the things that makes OKW unique among the WDW DVC resorts! ;)

Who is so special to you that you are willing to give up the bed for them, LOL? :) I wouldn't give up the bed to anyone but my MOM!

Best wishes -

P.S. Have yo tried one of the new sleepers yet? Are those bad on your back, too? Hope not.

Personally, I prefer the queen bed/sleeper sofa. If I go with DW, the couch stays folded up and all of a sudden our studio is much bigger than a standard resort room. :thumbsup2

Plus, you don't have to sit on the bed to watch television.

Likewise, I have two kids who refused to sleep in the same bed. In a studio, we could let one sleep on the couch (without pulling the bed out) and the other on an air mattress next to the couch.

All in all, we like the current studio arrangement best.

The only time we like two full queen beds in a room is when we reserve a 2BR. We do prefer to get the dedicated 2BR's for those resorts where dedicated are available.

that is who I am giving it up too.

tried one of the new sleepers at SSR - it actually was worst - I am not a little person.....

Since DW and I are only two now... we really wish VB would have Inn rooms with Queen and sleeper instead of 2 queens. It really would make the room much more usable for us. Just our take.

Could they even get two queen sized beds with a night stand between and a table and two chairs into these smaller sized studios? I know they could get a queen and a double, but who likes to sleep in doubles these days? The OKW studio is larger than the other studios.

it's the queen bed/sofa arrangement for me - a herniated disc years ago keeps me from trying to sit up in bed and watch television!
:goodvibes

We've had this discussion several times before. The majority prefer it the way it is but no hard asking/wanting it the other way. I doubt DVC will change it for the studios and they already have for the dedicated 2 BR units.

What I think would be nice would be the option of some 1 bedrooms with a queen and twin bunk-bed in the bedroom. Perhaps AKLV, if it happens, could offer this? We only have 2 kids, but they are opposite gender, so we'll eventually (once they hit the teens) have to either get a 2 bedroom for a family of 4! (or have dh and ds sleep together and dd and I sleep together).

One of the reasons DVC will not do such an unorthodox option is it creates hassles and costs when something is out of the norm. They would not have changed out the BCV dedicated units had they not legally had to.

But perhaps, IF AKLV gets built, they could theoretically make all the 1BR units with a set of bunkbeds (after all, they already have them for some of the inn rooms). I think it would be a major, major selling point for AKLV. It would certainly make the resort the most appealing DVC property for our family. ;)

Man, oh, man. If I got stuck with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds when I was expecting a king sized bed and queen sleeper sofa I would be MAD. That would be the problem with making some rooms different than others. When you change out the sleeper sofa with a same sized bed or larger, it's not a problem for most. But to make the bed smaller would be.

As much as I love my son, he can sleep in the living room or the second bedroom. He's not joining his father and me in the master bedroom unless we have lost power and it's below freezing outside.

add me to the list of distressed guests if i found bunk beds in my 1 bedroom! they could never work for dh and me!

Pat,
If it's more than just me and dh, I'm with you. The kids don't want to sleep on the sofa pull outs. My dd actually pulled the seat cushions off the couch and slept on them instead last week at OKW. We much prefer the OKW studio set-up when traveling with more than 2 people. If it were just dh and I, and there was no need for a second bed, then we'd prefer the studio set-up of the other DVC resorts. But for now......we love our 2 queen beds in the OKW studio :thumbsup2

Nope, not me. I really like the sleeper sofa because it opens up so much area in the room when it is closed up. The OKW studios seem cramped compared to the others and they are actually bigger.

I like the sleeper sofa, too. My trips are either solo or with DH, so the sofa is never opened up. Our kids are grown, so if they're around, they have their own studios. :thumbsup2

And bunks in the 1-bedroom? Not for me, thanks. Having a king bed is a luxury--I wouldn't want the room cluttered with bunks. This would not work for us.

Since I travel solo most of the time, I love the couch. It's nice to be able to sit and watch TV or read. And it makes the room seem a lot bigger.

Of course, if I had to sleep on the thing, I might feel differently.

Trust me -- when your kids are older you will WANT the second bedroom almost as much as they will! They like their privacy and the extra TV. You will like being able to pull the door shut and not have to worry about clothes that didn't make it into the hamper, etc. Oh, and the second bathroom will be a lifesaver!

Our kids were 5 and 8 (boy and girl) when we bought DVC in 1993 and we have always gone for a 2BR. Now that they're both in college and it's usually just DH and me, we still get a 1BR because we love all the space, not to mention the kitchen and laundry facilities! That's what makes DVC ownership so wonderful....

When I stay at WDW with my parents, they prefer the 2 queen bed set up. I either book 2 studios or the 2 bedroom villa. It takes a lot of points, but it's the only way I can get the configuration that is best for them. Even when I'm traveling with my niece or a friend, the one bedroom thing is not really good-even though I'd like to have the full kitchen. I always feel that someone is "stuck" with the sofa bed. With my friend-whoever used their points, gets the bedroom and the other person gets the sofa. It's uncomfortable because you can't really use the kitchen without waking up the person on the sofa!

Yep it fits, but there would be a lot more room with a sofa, and maybe coffee table would be nice too. :thumbsup2
