DW and I have a 1BR for our Nov. trip to OKW. My 26 YO son wants to make the trip with us. Can I update my resie to a lock off 2 bedroom so he can have his own entrance and privacy when he wants? Or, like other requests, MS will try to provide? :confused3

To change from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, you will need to make an entirely different reservation. You would want to make sure the 2 bedroom lock off is available before cancelling the 1 bedroom.

FYI, in a 1 bedroom unit, your DS would be in the living room, and will thus have an entrance and exit to unit. It is you who are in the master who will have to go through "his space" to get out.

If you cover up the studio portion in this floor plan, you will see that the 1 bedroom accommodations would have the main entrance off the living room portion of the unit, where he would be in the pull out sofa. If you go with the 2 bedroom, he will have the room with the two queen beds in it.

Actually, if you go with the 2BR lockoff, he'll have a separate entrance and ONE queen size bed, plus a pull out sofa bed. He'll also have a kitchenette.
Dedicated and lockoff are specified when you reserve, and are not just requests. Whichever one you ask for will appear on your reservation.

If you stay with the 1BR, in buildings 30 and lower he will have to cut through your bedroom to get to the water closet

Thanks, K9pal, that is just the answer I was looking for!:thumbsup2

This is not correct, all OKW studios/2nd BR lock-off have 2 queen beds.

WHOA! NOT true! OKW does NOT have 1 queen and 1 sleep sofa in the studio portion. ALL OKW studios have 2 queen beds...no sofa unless he wants to use the one in the living room of the 2 bedroom.

Since there is only my son staying in the lockoff studio, the one or two queen is really a non issue. What I needed to know was if we could get a guarantee of a lockoff with a private entrance not just a request. Thanks for all of the replys.:thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a dedicated room and a lockoff room? Or are they the same thing?

Thanks

A dedicated 2 BR will not have two entrances from the outside. The second bedroom will be either off a hallway in the case of OKW and some others or through a door between the living room and that bedroom in others. In a lock off there are two entrances to the outside of the villa. The room keys open both doors. There is a kitchenette in the 2nd bedroom as it is really a studio and 1 BR combined.

Which OKW units have a hallway to the 2nd bedroom? All of ours simply had a door that opened into the living room.

I think they are all that way, you have either a single door into the second bedroom in a dedicated or the double door to the second bedroom in a lockoff. The hallway is on the one bedroom side.

Hi,

Last time we stayed at OKW 2 Bedroom lockoff we had an octagon shaped deck/porch off the dining area. We noticed that some of the other decks were square. Do you think this has any connection to the lockoff/dedicated rooms?

Any thoughts?

I guess technically it is not a hallway as the one to the MB is but I consider it to be the entrance hallway or whatever where the door is located as opposed to the doors such as we had at BCV and WL which were in the wall between the living room and the second bedroom. It just seemed when we came in you turned left to go to the MB from the entrance hallway/ foyer or right into the 2nd BR. You did not have to actually enter what we consider the living room, kitchen/dining space. It is a matter of perception I guess. The room layout Diane posted shows it quite well. In a dedicated unit where the door to the outside is in the second bedroom was a very large closet in the one we had at Christmas.

The shape of teh porch has nothing to do with it being a dedicated or lock off. I might add that I don't think the difference between having a 1 bedroom or a two bedroom lock off is that big a difference for the OP. The entry door is going to off the foyer, which is off the living room, so if he is in the living room, he coming and going will not interfer with anyone in the master.

FYI, booking a dedicated or lock off unit is a guaranteed booking if you book it that way.
