I am not a DVC member, though maybe someday...

We are planning a trip for the 1st week of June 2008. This means that we will have to wait until September, if we are lucky and they open the rooms that early to non DVC members, before we can book the package.

How hard will it be to get a @ bdr? Esp. a 2bdr with 2 queens int he 2nd bedroom?

Thanks!

Sounds like you are planning to book through CRO/WDWTC for cash. My understanding is that the 2 bedroom units with 2 queens in the second bedroom arenot available to cash guests. They are reserved for members paying points. You could get a 2 bedroom with 1 queen and a sleep sofa in the second bedroom for cash, though.

You may not have to wait until September to find availability - I would begin calling to book in July or August. Sometimes cash inventory is availablel sooner than the 7 month mark. Good luck getting your package at the BCV.

We had planned to book through CRO because we wanted to get the DDP.

Let me make sure that I am understanding this correctly...a @ Bdr with the 2 queens is only available to DVC members, or ALL 2 bdr are only available to DVC members??

My kids, who will be 7 and 4 at the time, will be the ones using the 2nd bed, so it won't be that big of a deal for them to have the pull out couch. I jsut thought it would be easier and more convenient to have the 2nd bed in there. ( My parents will be in the Master)

Thanks!

You would be able to get the DDP if you rented points from a DVC member also. Your best bet to get the 2 queen deicated would be to find a member with BCV points who can book before the 7 month period.

REALLY??? I had no idea that was possible! I thought when you rented points you just got the room and then bought your tickets separately. I did not know that we could get the DDP added on as well. How exactly does that work then? Does that change the number of points you have to rent??

If you rent points or a reservation to be more correct you are able to tell the person you are renting from that you want to add the dining plan, Me etc. and they will note that when the reservation is made. You pay the person for the reservation and then when you arrive at WDW you pay for the DDP at check in. The cost for the DDP is same as it is for anyone at the regular resorts. Since your trip is in 2008 I can't say what this will be. This of course is assuming that DDP will still be available when you want to go. It is a perk for members and could be discontinued although it does not seem likely at this point. If you want you can buy your tickets from a ticket broker, pre order from Disney or purchase when you get there. Tickets are your resposibility and have nothing to do with the person you would rent from. With DVC you do not have to have park tickets to order the DDP. Hope this info helps.

You tell the member you are renting from that you want the DDP. It is linked into the room reservation. You pay for the plan when you check-in, not in advance. The cost for 2007 is $38.99 per adult and $10.99 per child per night of the ressie. I don't think they have released 2008 pricing, yet.

The DDP on DVC reservation is not a "ticket package" you may purchase your park tickets from any source you wish.

Since the DDP is a separate add-on for DVCers, the points for the room are the same, with or without the DDP. As with CRO, the DDP must be for all people in the room for the entire legnth of the reservation.

Thanks for all of your help! I just did some quick math, and based on this year's prices, it looks like we could save around $3,000 by renting a reservation. We will have to look into that.

So...if we are planning on going May 31- June 7, 2008, then a BCV member could book for us as early as the beginning of July, correct?

Correct!

You probably know this, but just in case: you can get the DDP that you pay for, when using DVC points. The FREE Dining plan (that some refer to as the DDP) is NOT available when using DVC.
