2 ADRs, Same Time, Different Restaurants?

Okay, I get it! The Disney family of characters certainly has no room for weasels! I PROMISE I won't do it!!!! :mickeyjum

For the record, I wasn't thinking about making two or three sets of ADR's for each meal. It was just on our last day, I could not decide whether we would be going to MK or DHS. Yes, I was thinking of not canceling the other until a day or two before. And while I realize that someone would eventually be using the ADR I would eventually reliquish, I also now realize that it would be unfair to the others (most of us here) who make their ADR's up to 180 days in advance.

Haha. So what restaurants are you having trouble deciding on? We could help, that's what we're here for. :goodvibes

:goodvibes Since you asked . . .

On our getaway day, our flight doesn't leave until 7:45 pm. The question for us is whether we go to DHS and do the P&D CB at DHS, the CP at MK (for the second time) or Cape May CB at the BC, where we are staying.

That's an easy one..... we did Cape May and loved it.

Also since you are staying at BC... you want to keep it simple on your last day, enjoy your resort and cut-down on your running around time, (it will make the day last longer). I try to bunch things together when I'm staying at a great resort, and not run all over the place. (2nd choice would be targeted to which ever park I was going to anyway that day)

We always talk about doing something twice in one trip, but we never do (CP at MK). Just more fun the 1st time you do things at Disney

If they're different parties, don't make them under the same name. Make the second one under your husband's name.

Thank you, if we end up doing this, I will do so. Will this be enough though? Yes, we will be 2 different parties of 2, but on the same ressie (same ressie #). Will they look and see that it's different names? Cause I'm thinking that would be another loophole - put one ADR in one adult's name, the other in another's name. NOT recommending this at all, just saying. I'm hoping that Disney does look at them closely and if there's any doubt maybe they would call before cancelling.

OK, I'm sure to get slaughtered out here but I do it all the time. Granted I make reservations about 6 months out then as hours and parades become more firm and I am better able to plan my time on-site and where I will be I adjust my reservations accordingly. Due to the newfound popularity of the DDP which has way increased TS requests, it seems to be the only way to avoid eating at 5 pm or 9 pm. (We have DDE.) I just book one set in my name and one in my husband's then cancel them individually by ADR number. They're usually at different times but for the same meal. I really don't see the treachery if I cancel a good 3 months out. There ought to be some reward for having the forethought to think ahead. And also by cancelling way out others can get those reservations. FYI these are normal restaurants, not CRT or anything that exclusive. And now that off-site visitors can make adrs, if my reservations got cancelled I'd throw a fit!!! Who's to say my husband and I didn't decide to split up and eat with different friends in different locations on the same night. And as in that case how dare they make the assumption that the two reservations are for the same group of people?

You don't need a room reservation number to make a dining reservation inside of 180 days. If you are making two reservations for two separate parties, don't worry about it.

How is it not a moral debate to determine what is right or wrong for someone else. This is not a matter of policy - as it is not stated anywhere by Disney. I have, in fact, made numerous reservations at conflicting times with nary a word otherwise from anyone at disney dining. I have also never had anything cancelled without my knowledge.

Now before the flamethrowers come out I have never stacked reservations to wait and decide while I am there. However, I have often had to settle for second, third or even lesser choices during initial rounds of reservations. When moving off the list I have discussed with my wife, I have, with the same reservations agent made two reservations at the same time. I have also called back and eventually gotten more desirable reservations and never been prompted to cancel existing reservations. And this isn't ancient history - four week long trips in the last two years and as recently as December. Now, I do cancel any extra reservations once we have what we want - but again I have never been prompted to do so and have actually had them act like it is a nuisance to go through and cancel a bunch of reservations for me.

Ditto!
I also have done the same thing, most of the time the CM's act like they are offended to have to go back and cancel/check something.
I was a first timer and I just assumed the CM's would cancel out the one I was replacing an ADR for, but to find out every once in about every fifth call, to make yet another change the CM would say something about canceling conflicting ADR's and it was always a suprise to find out they hadn't canceled the previous ressies. Infact they asked if I still wanted to keep it.

Once I realized they kept doing this I came to the conclusion I was going to have to make sure every time I made a change I would have to check if they canceled the previous ADR. I never had anything canceled, and I was never aware at any time this was a big no-no by the CM on the phone, ever. I figured this happens all the time because NO ONE mentioned to cancel previous ADRs when your making a change.
Before the trip I made sure a couple of times to check my ADR's, and made sure I had all my correct reservation numbers, this was a good way to see if anything else hadn't been canceled, a couple of times when I checked they had not removed ADR's that I requested canceled. It's a good thing I did check. Not a moral issue at all.
