2/9/10 Questions for the Team will be taken from this thread only.

It's finally Tuesday!

My question is regarding the use of wheelchairs & ECVs in the parks. I sometimes need to use a wheelchair due to fractures from osteoporosis. It looks as though I will not be able to walk or stand for very long for our upcoming trip in June, so I plan on bringing my own wheelchair. My question is - Are any of the parks too hilly for my DH to push me, or would you recommend renting an ECV? Also, if I should rent an ECV, are plenty available or do I need to plan on renting one early in the day? Since I'm fairly new at this, any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks for everything you do!

Katrina

Good Morning, all! My question isn't about anything particularly Disney, but vacation related.

What has been everyone's favorite road trip?

Do the transfers from DCL take you from the resorts to Port Canaveral or just from the airport to Port Canaveral?

My question (written in the lobby of the Ruby Tuesday after getting off the monorail to Universal :lmao:) is for a future podcast. When you attend the give a day/get a day seminar would you ask the following questions
1. Can you you use the free pass toward your Annual Pass if you are a DVC member? The pass is cheaper for a DVC member.
2. Can you use the free pass toward renewing your Annual Pass purchased as a DVC member?
3. If I use the fass pass option, can I use all of my fast passes on one ride? I don't ride TOT, RRC, Star Wars or any of the thrill rides in Hollywood Studios. I would like to use all of my fast passes on Toy Story Mania. Will that be possible?:confused3

Thanks in advance and think of those of us who will be surrounded by swirling snow for the next 3 days. :goodvibesPenny:hippie:

Hi Podcast crew.

Always appreciate the show's energy and expertise!

Last summer we ran out of attractions to see or that were open at Hollywood Studios. My brother in law spotted the Prince Caspian attraction. My daughter had read the books and I was vaguely familiar with the story lines and that Disney had an association with the films. So we gave it a shot. In short, and I apologize in advance to those of you who are Prince Caspian et al devotees, it was about the lamest attraction I could fathom that Disney had ever offer. This building took up a lot of valuable real estate and offered nothing more than a commercial.

When the scales are examined almost of all of what the parks offer are well done and classy and so I am looking at the glass as 1% empty instead of 99% full. Nonetheless ...

This set me to wondering what the podcast crew thought might be the lamest attractions in the each of the other parks. What say you.

In light of the Orlando Sentinel article the other day that featured our good friend Pete....

What impact do you think the Harry Potter attraction is going to have? Are you seeing increased bookings for Universal only trips or do you see an increase in interest in the Orlando area generally? Or, is the economy still too sluggish for this to create any huge change?

Hi Podcast team! I have Universal/IOA questions for you.

With the opening of the Wizarding World, we have decided to give Universal/IOA a try. Up until now we have had no interest in venturing over to the "other side"! I will be travelling with my 4 children ages 15, 14, 12 and 10, my mom who will need an ECV and possibly my husband if his leave falls during the vacation (this is unlikely however).

Heres the catch: Mom can't do the thrills (anything with a lot of shaking, lurching or sharp turns or drops) and I, well I simply just can't bring myself to do it. Let's put it this way I have been on Splash Mountain ONCE in all of my trips to WDW and on that on ride I cried pathetically the entire way through and when we were done my knees were shaking so hard my husband had to help me out of the log! I am terrified of drops and will not do coasters.

I don't have a problem waiting for my older two kids while they experience the rides I just can't bring myself to try. I have read a couple tour books with ride descriptions so I have a general idea of what rides I know I want to stay away from obviously rides like Rip Ride Rockit or The Mummy I won't do. Can you steer me in the right direction for things that aren't coasters though? My big fear for this trip is getting on a ride and wetting myself (or worse) when there is a sudden unexpected drop. Truly, I do not want to embarrass myself or my children. What are some rides that I should definitely stay away from for the comfort of myself ...and others? Incidently, I seem to be able to do simulator rides I also can ride Kali River Rapids and Pirates of the Caribbean and the ride in Norway all which have SMALL drops. Also, do you have any ideas of how Mom and I and the two youngers can occupy ourselves while the two big kids are hitting the rides we can't or are too chicken to ride?

Thanks Podcast team Have a GREAT day!!:thumbsup2 Chris

Hi everyone!

Another Universal question: We've never been to Universal, and we have 2 boys (10 & 15). We have to travel during school breaks. Is one night on Universal property enough to experience the whole park?

Is Universal crazy busy at Christmastime? We're leaning towards late June 2011.

Can we book Universal Hotels/packages through Dreams Unlimited?

Weather update? FYI - we're getting 6-10 inches in Pittsburgh on top of our 23+ already on the ground - that was for Kathy.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hello Podcast crew! We are heading down Spring Break and during our visit on March 18th, Discovery is scheduled for a mid day (1:34pm +/-) launch. We wanted to watch the launch from a close as possible but can't commit to making it an all day event. We are considering Titusville but don't know what to expect as far as crowds go. Our fear is not finding a parking place as we will arrive about an hour before the scheduled launch time, or getting caught in a 2 hour traffic jam afterward as we want to be back for our evening ADRs. If there is another location that would sacrifice proximity to fix my needs, it would be great.

Can someone channel the spirit of Bob for this one?

Just curious, what was the last ride/attraction/show that each of you experienced that was not work related. You did it because you wanted to not because you were working for the show or site?

A comment about Teresa's trip planning, I know some on other threads have mentioned this, but I thought it would be cool to have Teresa start a Pre-trip report thread. Maybe turn it into a trip report afterward. This way she would get the full experience of planning a trip using this site and not just have DU agent give her all the answers.
If she has already done this where can I find it?

Thanks

Nick

Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?

;)

All I want to hear is about moving to Florida. That's really not a question and you all did talk about it before, but that's my vote.

What is each member of the Podcast Team's favorite breakfast cereal? I think that says a lot about a person!:)

First off, congrats to the New Orleans Saints for winning the Super Bowl and Corey for winning the challenge. ;)

My question is: can you ever do a video or picture tour of the studio you all sit in to record the podcasts? I imagine it is just a room with a small table with microphones all around it.

I have a question that may be best answered by Kevin as it's about pin trading. I'm planning our family trip to Disney in June and my son whose 6 started pin trading so I read the boards and followed their suggestion to order pins from ebay and then let him trade them in the world. However, the pins I got seem to be different from the pins I buy at Disney (lighter in weight, etc) but are stamped Disney on the back of each. Are these pins ok for my kids 9, 6 and 4 to trade at Disney with other cast members. We're not really collectors but I thought it might be fun for the kids to do and prove to be cheaper than buying loads of Disney stuff at the parks.

Thanks for your help with this and love the podcast!:cool1:

Give Kids the World suggestion and question....

Would it be possible for the crew to put together an Ebay auction for a seat on a future show specifically for a listener? Highest bidder wins and the money is donated to GKTW Village.

Just a suggestion and understand if it's logistically impossible. :)

Have a great recording today.

Hi Podcast Crew!

Keep up the great work!

My question is about PhotoPass. Is there a number to call if you wait until the last day to order your pictures (procrastinating) and you go online and the website seems to be "out of order"?

And yes, this would be today - UGH!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Podcast crew,

If you were to design a Disney loyalty program for annual passholders and/or frequent guests, what are the benefits you think most important? Should there be two different programs, one which covers the resorts on property and one for annual passholders? What would you do solely for annual passholders?

Just thinking would be interesting to hear ideas.

Enjoy listening to the shows this year, thanks as always for making my week a little brighter.

Hi Podcast Team-
The question which I am about to ask has intrigued me for some time, it has been a topic which might have already been covered, but, then again I have not heard every episode since the Dis Unplugged’s inception.
With that being said, after hearing the most recent episode of the podcast, it looped to older episodes, in those episodes Pete speaks about Gordon and Nancy Quinn, my question is a two part question… one being what role did Gordon and Nancy play in the Dis Unplugged? The other being… how did the current podcast team come to be? Where did you all meet? What do you do on your off time, are you all together for vacations, etc? How did you come together to form the close-knit friendship which we all look forward to hearing about and being apart of for that matter?
Again I hope this is not a repeat question, and thanks for all you guys do podcast team.
From the frozen tundra of the Jersey Shore… Here’s to 18 more Inches of Snow.

Hi Podcast Crew,

Here is my question: You all know how the Magic Kingdom was built in an elevated fashion with tunnels underneath? Does anyone know if any of the other parks were built the same way? Just curious!

Maggie

If I buy tickets from an online place like official ticket center, when I get to Disney World will I be able to add them to my KTWC at check in? I have always either had a package or last year I bought my tickets when I got there, but would like to save a little money this year. Thanks guys, you are all doing an awesome job!

Congrats to Julie and Corey on having a baby girl, I have all girl cousins except one, they are so much fun!
