I've been waking up just before dawn, which seems ridiculous considering that we don't go to bed before midnight. The day beginning on the water is magnificent from the verandah. The seas are rough again this morning, I think the TV channel which reports such things here said 8-10 foot swells. Pass out the sea sickness pills.
Breakfast was in Parrot Cay, today was our character breakfast. DD6 at almost none of her food. DS9 ate his food quickly and tried to look cool while hugging the characters. We had Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale. We picked up the pictures from shutters of this event the next day. I was suprised that I didn't see any pictures with Chip and Dale, just the other four.
DS was off to the Oceaneers Lab while we drug DD to the "Shopping in Paradise" talk by Clyde in the Buena Vista Theater. This man was very enthusiastic about shopping in Grand Cayman and Cozumel and gave us a lot of information about where to go and not be cheated. He told us where to go to buy genuine cultured pearl necklaces at $1/inch, who had the tanzanite earrings cheap, etc. Sammy was understandably bored, but DH hung on every word. I think he wants Clyde's job.
Afterwards, we stopped by the ships shops and DH found some t-shirts on the "sale" rack, much to his delight. I guess he's warming up for Grand Cayman tomorrow.
DD and I stood in line and got the princesses autographs and pictures: Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Mulan and Pocahontos. DD is starting to feel seasick again, as the seas are now officially categorized as "rough". We all went to the lunch buffet at Parrot Cay, and after some sticky white rice, rolls and watermelon, DD is feeling good enough for a chocolate chip cookie. Retish tells us the key to avoiding sea sickness is to keep something in your tummy at all times. On this note we grab a couple of extra rolls to keep nearby for DD.
DH is off to yet another talk by Clyde. This is much the same as the morning talk, but Clyde has samples of jewelry, watches, gem stones, etc at this one. After this DH is off to the "beer tasting and pub crawl". The crawl part wouldn't be at all in jest if it were me in these rough seas, one beer and I would be crawling to get anywhere.
DS rejoined us for lunch and now goes with DD and I to check out the pools. Interestingly enough, when the seas are rough, so are the swimming pools. They looked like the wave machine I saw at the Seattle Aquarium. This doesn't stop people from using them, but it is a bit more than my kids are ready to swim in. We were sure to stop by Scoops. This is one of our favorite places now as we love ice cream. The guy at Scoops already knew what my son wanted, and leaves me wondering exactly how many times we've been to Scoops on this day 3? Hmm...
We went back to the room to "chill". I sat out on the verandah in the sunshine. Fortunately the verandah is a bit protected from the wind and was quite comfortable. DS was back at the Lab and DD and I were off for tea with Wendy Darling. This was sweet and DD got her picture taken and an autograph. Mississaguamom and her DD were there as well.
We all dressed up in our formal wear and went down for portraits in the atrium at about 5:15. We had it taken with two different backgrounds. Didn't have to stand in line at all on the first background, but it was about half an hour in the second line. The kids shucked their formal wear and we grabbed them some dinner from Plutos.
DH and I had reservations at Palo's at 6:30, which turned out to be a mistake however. We had to check the kids in to the club and lab, which were in transition. They don't allow you to check in or out during the 15 mintues of transition; that way they don't lose anyone. I finally made it to Palo's only a couple of minutes late to meet DH.
Our server was Kristof and he was wonderful. I had the Portabello Mushroom appetizer, the tomato & mozzerella pizza, and the Seafood Rissoto with Grilled Shrimp. Chocolate souffle for dessert followed by a mixed berry dish. DH accidentally order three entrees (you are supposed to order one thing from each category on the left hand page of the menu and one thing from one of three categories on the right side. the right side are entrees broken down into beef, fish, chicken). It was a lucky accident however, since we were both able to try many of the dishes. Wonderful food.
I rescued DD from the Club. She didn't like it much and asked that she not go back until Goofy's Giggle Gala on Thursday. Cool with me. (She said the little kids were pushy). DS was not willing to leave the lab, they were making flubber, so we took DD and went to the Golden Mickeys. This is quite the professional stage show with an amazing cast. We had a great time. Picked up DS from the Lab at nearly midnight. I don't know how we are going to get back to the regular bedtime next week!
