Here's my Day One report for those who want up-to-date information!
We arrived at the terminal via our HappyLimo van around 11:30-11:45 and had no problem going through security and into the terminal. We were directed to one of the round tables where a CM tears your completed documents out of your ticket document booklet. (Tear out your own and have it ready when you arrive to save yourself time.) The Bahama's sheet for minors is to be signed by the parent (in case you were wondering).
Once you have your documents out of the document book, the CM directs you to enter the line to get you KTTW card. We went to the Castaway Club entrance since this is our second cruise and actually saved time by doing so.
We then headed to the line to wait for the doors to open. The line was already pretty long. It was already the length of the building and had wrapped around about 50 feet.
At promptly noon, the doors opened and the line moved quickly.
Once we had our photos taken and had been introduced, DH headed straight to make our Palo reservations which went quickly. My DIL and I headed to the spa for our reservations. Reservations were painless!
We went to Topsiders for lunch then a walk around the ship.
We were able to gain entry to our room at 1:30 and found it in great shape. Osden is our room steward.
Tea with Wendy ticket pickup was underway at 1 PM (for those who care).
We napped during the afternoon until we were awakened by announcements 30 minutes prior to the lifeboat drill.
Our luggage arrived prior to the drill - which made getting ready for supper easier.
We went to the Sail Away Celebration and enjoyed the festive mood!
Between the party and early dinner seating, I had enough time to get prepared.
Attire at the early seating was EXTREMELY casual. People wore shorts, jeans, etc -- anything went last night. I was definitely overdressed. I cannot say whether late seating attire was the usual definition of casual.
In the elevator last night, another cruiser commented that there is a very long waiting list for people wishing to switch to the early seating for dinner.
Myself - if the grandkids weren't here - I'd prefer the late seating as well. I felt a little too rushed through our meal.
After dinner, we headed off to the "Welcome Aboard Variety Show" starring the comedy and ventriloquism of Michael Harrison and the juggling and comedy of David DiMuzio. Both were very good. The child that was the puppet for Michael Harrison was HILARIOUS!
After the show, we made the rounds through the bars but not many people were partaking in that last night. They were probably exhausted just like us!
Some people have asked about the movies on board during the sailing -- this is for those people:
Spy Kids 3D, Pirates of the Caribbean, Brother Bear, Haunted Mansion, Miracle, Nemo, Under the Tuscan Sun, Cold Mountain, Calendar Girls, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (Friday).
Bottled water by the case is available on the ship for those who do not want to stop between the airport and the ship. A case (24) of Evian 16 oz. bottles is $30 plus gratuity. Not bad since I paid $2 for a 16 oz bottle of Dasante water in the airport.
