Calling all 2/15 to 2/22 7 Day Magic Cruisers.....

Please tell all the info you have from your cruise. Especially weather (temps etc) and all the secrets you learned on the cruise.

We are on the 2/14 to 2/21 cruise next year. 51 weeks and counting!

Thanks

Mojomanny

Mojomanny,

We just got back from the 2/15 cruise, and also have the 2/14 booked for next year (#5)

We have done all of the cruises during Presidents week. 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003. I don't want to jinx myself, but the weather has been picture perfect every time. We couldn't have asked for better weather this week. In the 80's and sunny except a very brief shower, like 3 minutes, at Castaway Cay yesterday. It was especially nice to miss all that snow here!

If you have any more specific questions, let me know!

Looking forward to the cruise. Hopefully we will be able to run into each other or see our green lapel Ribbons.

Was this years cruise East or West? I am so looking forward to the West since we have already done the 7 Day East.

No special questions unless there are any new observations you have made or routines you have discovered.

If it was West, what excursions did you do?

This years was the Western. I really enjoyed it MUCH better than the Eastern. (we have done the Eastern twice)

I will be doing a trip report shortly, but I highly recommend doing the Dolphin Swim directly through Dolphindiscovery.com it was an experience of a lifetime, well worth the money. I booked it on 12/20, and there was only 3 places left, so you should book early. We did the DCL island tour and snorkling with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. It was okay, we wanted to see a bit of the island. If I was to do it again, I would book directly with Captain Marvins, and rent a car to get to the "non tourist" shopping areas. Again, I will be putting most of my thoughts in a trip report.

movies that i remember were: jungle book 2, big fat greek wedding, signs, lilo and stitch, tuck everlasting, chicago.

We did some excursion through disney (playa del sol, and stingray city), and some on are own (horseback riding on grand cayman, jet ski on key west).

Overall, I would recommend doing your homework, and doing excursions on your own. As an example, the stingray city tour. Tons of ways to do it own your own. While the disney trip was fine, I would say you waste at least 30-60 minutes being herded with such a large group. I also think you can probably do it cheaper on you own. Similiarly, playa del sol, you can get a cab over there, and pick what things you want to include (just beach, drinks, lunch etc) and what you don't.

Hi DrRick,

Valerie from the 2/15 boards here!! Sorry we missed you on board. Wasn't the weather the BEST-especially with all the snow back home!! We booked the 2/14 also while on board, then decided to change to 3/13. My son has a short week and the savings was over $1200.00 for the same room. (I just hope the weather is as good!!)We also loved the Western MUCH more than the eastern-great ports with ample time in all of them. Please send me a link to your trip report when you post it!!

doctorrick how was the buffet at playa del sol?and did the disney people have there own section of beach?and how about umbrella were there any?
and does anyone know if they are still using stickers for the soda refills or not?
thanks everyone.

We really enjoyed Disney's stingray city tour. We purchased a floppy disk with pictures on us. In cozumel we took a taxi to Mister Sanchos (Free admission, $15 taxi for 4) We enjoyed this small beach club. Favorite excursion for my kids. They had a better time there than at castaway cay. We also left kids after dinner on ship at key west and went "bar hopping" great trip.

disneybets,

Were you one of the staterooms they were looking for that hadn't boarded the ship yet?? LOL-Only kidding, but at dinner (we had late seating) 3 staterooms were being paged!!

We did the same, except before dinner. Stopped and had a few margaritas at a nice little outdoor bar on Duvall Street.

I think the disney stingray trip was good, but I think doing it on your own would be cheapier and quicker. The buffet at playa was just ok. I didn't mind it, others in my party didn't. There were umbrellas available, I'm not sure if we had a special area.

They are still using the stickers for the soda, making it much more worthwhile in my opinion.

I agree that the western ports are great. In fact we are thinking of doing a week on grand cayman next year, we liked it so much.

I have to agree with doctorrick-the excursions take much less time on your own. We did the dolphin through Disney and spent alot of time waiting around. I loved the place and the excursion, but it didn't make most efficient use of time. The other two port days we did things on our own at a time of our choosing. Just make sure you spend time here on the boards and in general on some travel websites for the ports of call and you can have much more control over your day.
