My DD is 2 1/2 and is doing very well with potty training most days. I was wondering if she is old enough to understand a reward sticker type chart for using the potty? I am also thinking of one for staying in her own bed all night. That one is mostly my fault, I know I should put her back in her own bed when she gets up at night but she is so sneaky and quiet she just comes in and curls up at the end of my bed and I don't notice until I get up.
Any tips or ideas on using a sticker chart?

Thanks!
Amy

At that age, we used stickers for brushing teeth and it worked really well. Be sure to ler HER put the stickers on some really cool picture, they don't need to be lined up. Ya know, like stars in the sky or fairies in the flowers.

We used a sticker chart at that age for potty training, and it worked well. I also let him put his own stickers on. I didn't really use a chart, but a blank piece of paper, so he could put the stickers wherever he wanted. When he reached the goal amount of stickers, he got to keep the paper and a new one went up. He also got a small "prize" like a sheet of stickers or some bubbles.

Just make sure the goal amount of stickers is small enough at first for it to keep her motivated. We used 5 at first, and then as he got better at using the potty, increased the amount of stickers.

I think she can understand, but you have to make it really simple and fairly short. We used one for potty training. There were like 20 boxes that got a sticker, and the 21st one had a picture of the prize he got for doing the 20 stickers. When we finished that one, we did one with like 50 boxes. At that point, he was trained and didn't need it any more. For staying in bed, I would probably only do about five boxes b/c five days is an eternity for a child that age.

BTW, this chart was a follow-up to a couple days of getting a prize every time he went to the potty.
