1st World Problem: Amazon vs. USPS

Yeah, my last Amazon order USPS swore they delivered it, and they did. They just didn’t leave the key for the package delivery box so I could retrieve it. It took a couple days to straighten it out, and I was worried someone else would take my package and run. But it worked out in the end. I hate our local USPS and would love to be able to bypass them as much as possible.
The way it works in our cluster ones is if it fits in your mailbox they will put it there, you have your own mail key to open it. If it doesn't fit they will put it in the oversized box and leave the key for that inside your mailbox. There's no way someone else can take your package since the key for the oversized box is inside your locked mailbox unless what you're saying is the package delivery box was left unlocked which if so that's awful. Once you retrieve your package from the oversized box you just leave the key in the lock itself. If there's already a package in the oversized box they often just leave it at your front door. But boy that would be a pain in the butt if you had to go after USPS to get the key to open the oversized box if that happened to us :sad2: sounds like a headache you had to deal with. USPS has a common problem here (although I haven't experienced it) where they will mark something as delivered but they haven't actually physically delivered it, the common advice is to wait until the next day it'll probably show up then, that's a pain for a lot of people and a lot of posts of "package says delivered but nothing is there" on Nextdoor and whatnot.

Not a choice you can make as far as I know. Have ordered a number of things online from not only Amazon but also several other companies and never had any issues regardless of who ultimately delivered it. One item I did order from Amazon showed it got transferred to the local post office, but they never delivered it. When I reported it to Amazon, they shipped me a replacement with no questions asked. There isn't anywhere to select your preferred logistics carrier when placing an order. In some cases you can pay extra for expedited delivery, but with a bit of advance planning have never seen the need to do that.

I'm a former Amazon delivery driver,
Have your packages delivered to a smart box if you have one. Amazon is the only one that delivers to them.
It's really fustrating I live north of Fort Lauderdale so it's a big city they transferred and then lost my package. When I called Amazon they said we have to refund you. The price went up $20 and I had to complain because I could not rebuy it.

I order a car phone mount several weeks ago and Amazon handed it off to USPS (it was 2-day shipping). About a week went by and it ended up marked lost in transit. Amazon offered a refund so I took it. A few days ago it magically showed up... it was the first time that a USPS screw-up worked in my favor.

That’s how ours works as well. I have to assume they either put the key in the wrong mailbox, which is why I was so concerned, or had posted a bogus delivery message. I had ordered a birthday gift for my BIL and the timing was such that I would not have been able to replace it in time if it was delivered to the wrong person and they kept it.

Speaking of which, Amazon delivered to the mail box yesterday.. *Luckily* it just so happened to be a day where we got no USPS service :/

When we went to get one of our packages last month, I inquired as to why USPS wouldn't deliver them. Essentially, it was explained that they are working within the confines of people who show up to work and some drivers are basically saying they are only delivering straight mail, no packages, nothing that will require them to stop and get out to walk to the porch, only mail. And USPS is pretty much working at the will of the drivers who show up.

I picked up my mail yesterday and realized that it's been months since any business mail has had a post mark date... what is up with this?
