What are the crowds like October 2-10? Has the Halloween crowds kicked in then? What are the hours like then? and/or is there alot of closures then to prep for Halloween? It will be my niece's first time to visit (she's 4).

Yes, the Halloween crowds will have kicked in - the first couple of weeks of October are pretty busy, but weekdays are always better than weekends.
Nothing will be closed to prep for Halloweentime at that point. The Halloweentime season will be in full swing - we
think the season will officially start on
Friday, September 24th, but we won't get the final word on that from DLR until July. The Trick or Treat Party (TOTP) will be held on every Friday, Sunday and Tuesday during October, and will begin on Friday
, October 1st. Everything that would have been down to prep for Halloweentime will be open on 9/24 (or whenever the actual start date of the season is), including Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Halloween Round-Up, etc. The Halloween fireworks will also begin then. All the decorations, Halloween food and merchandise will be up and out.
The TOTP is supposed to happen in DL this year and not in DCA like previous years, so this means that on those TOTP nights, DL will close quite early (I would guess 6 p.m.). DCA will be open, and World of Color will be in full swing over there.
Your niece should have a great time - especially if she loves Halloweentime!!
