My wife and I decided yesterday that we would take a trip to the World in early March. I called member services to find out what 2 bedroom availability we could choose from for 5 nights starting on Sunday, February 28th. I was expecting the usual result of SSR and OKW which would have been perfectly fine.

To my GREAT surprise, EVERY single property had availability! Granted, this is before the spring break season begins, but I still couldn't believe that just over 5 months out, we literally have our pick of where to stay. We took advantage of the situation by reserving 2 nights at BWV and 3 nights at BLT. We have not stayed at either resort, so we are thrilled to get to see them on one trip.

Does this speak to the continued sluggish economy or speak to the time of year or a combination of both?

We took two trips the first week of March and it's a great time to go. I can't speak on the DVC availability because we stayed at the regular resorts those trips. But I think it's kind of a "secret"...people seem to assume it's a busy time due to being in a higher cost timeframe and some think of ALL of March as crazy-busy spring break. As you said, the real spring breakers don't arrive until later in the month. That's great you had your choice of places to stay! :)

We always go the first week of March. The weather is nice, and the crowds are just beginning to grow.

I was excited to see your post. I'm calling tomorrow and I was hoping for a 2BR for 5 nights at BLT starting on 2/28. We are switching from April because the airfare was astronomical! The first week of March is significantly cheaper. Sounds like the crowds will be lower also.

Do you know if they had all views available?

We are making our first trip as DVC members from March 1-8, 2010. We are staying in an MK-view studio at BLT, which we booked back in June. We picked that week because we are hoping the weather is a little warmer than in February, and we're hoping we'll beat some of the Spring break crowds. Here in Texas most public schools start their breaks the week of 3/14/10.

We're hoping the 4th-11th is a little low key as well.. we've never been in March and we're hoping for moderate crowds and pleasant weather!

So glad I saw this! I had ruled out an early March trip b/c I figured spring break crowds would be bad...sounds like it might be a good time to go!:goodvibes

We'll be there too! We like the first two weeks of March, because we can combine Disney with Spring Training. We are doing OKW March 5-11 and Fort Myers March 11-15, and AKV March 15-16.

We will be there March 6-13, so we'll see you there!!! ;)

We went March 20th last year for 5 days and the weather was spectacular. Warm enough to swim, yet not swelteringly hot for the parks. It cooled off nice in the evening, too.

We always visit WDW in early March, at first it was because it was the only time I could take vacation from work. Now it's the time we always visit, the weather is a welcome relief from the sometimes long winter and the crowds don't seem to be a problem.

I'm so glad to read this still appears to be true! I called at our 7 month mark, and was able to get 2 rooms at BLT, which shocked me! I hope it means that our crowd levels are just going to be that low! :thumbsup2

Small world. I also called on Monday for a 2 BR on 2.27 and then 3.4-6 and was surprised to have a choice of all properties (I went with AKL for 2.27 and BLT lakeview for the rest)(for one of the prior posters, 2BR standard was not available for my dates). The cruise prices were really reasonable for that week too, so I'm seeing the virtue of early March travel. Now hoping for good weather!
