I posted under mega meets also, but thought maybe should set up new post--I am going the 1st week of December with a 4 yr old and hoped it would be a slow time of year, but it is beginning to sound like it will be pretty busy. Looking for advice--maybe we should change to November?? And did anyone go to WDW the 1st week of December last year and was it busy??

Hi Kurgan4 Welcome to the DIs, I'm really glad you found us and I hope you can visit often.

I'm going to move this over to our theme parks attractions and strategies board, for you.

I was there the first week of December last year and the crowds were reasonable.

To visit we have gone first or second week of December since 1993 and have found it a great time to visit.Crowds are not bad and you have all the hoilday decorations and special holiday doings make it a special time to visit WDW.Have a great vacation and welcome to the Dis.:earsboy: :sunny:  :earsgirl:

Thanks for your help. I just started to get worried that it might be pretty crowded. We are going with my parents who are in their 60's and my daughter is 4 so I am hoping to beat crowds. I am pretty flexible still with the dates but I will have to pick firm dates pretty soon. I also heard Pop Warner groups are coming starting on 12/6.

We went the first week of December two years ago and had a great week. The crowds were not bad at all (even with the Pop Warner Football players and cheerleaders) and we got very lucky and had fabulous weather.

The Christmas decorations and shows, parades, etc definitely make it worthwile going at that time of year. We went with my 4 and 2 year old boys and my 70 year old parents and all had a fabulous time. Don't hesitate to get a wheel chair to help the parents get around if necessary. My mom wanted no part of it but we forced her at EPCOT and she was very thankful.

The only place we were bothered by the pop warner was at the food court at Dixie Landings...rather Port Orleans Riverside. Other than that we never saw huge crowds of them.

Have a great Trip

I've gone the past 5 years the first or second week of December and it's never been crowded. It's a great time to go. The Christmas events are wonderful. I think the special events generate alot of talk on this board, but that doesn't mean big crowds. Crowds were less than our May or October trips. The Pop Warner kids aren't a big deal unless you plan to stay at All Star.

You have eased my mind quite a bit. I am really having to talk my father and DH into going at this time of year. I promised low crowds and am still trying to get them to agree to go to MVMCP, but am not sure I can.

We were there 2nd week Dec last year (it's about the same) and in seven days at the parks, I was unable to *effectively* use a fastpass. And there was only one time I wished I had one but didn't -- during a 15-min wait for Space Mountain. The Pop Warner group was supposedly there that same week but I saw virtually no evidence -- maybe three cheerleaders.

It's a great time of the year to go, and many on these boards do so, but remember we are too small a group to make a noticeable difference in attendance.

We have gone to WDW during the first two weeks of Dec. each year, since 1992. We have found the crowds to have increased each year, but they are still very reasonable. If you go to MVMCP, I would go during the week, because the crowds should be smaller.

I would also suggest going to the parks when they open. You normally can do more in the first couple of hours because the crowds start coming in about 10:30 to 11:00 am.

I think more people are finding out about this great time of year, with the good weather and Christmas decorations.

We were there last December. When we left Atlanta, we were experiencing record low temperatures. Of course being so close, Orlando's weather wasn't great either. However, we took sweaters, jackets, bought ponchos when needed, and proceeded to have a blast!

The crowds were light, the busiest being on Saturday at Animal Kingdom. You get the added perk of having the holiday decorations to enjoy.

Just go and have big fun!:Pinkbounc

The first two weeks of December are my favorite time...the weather's usually great (last year was an exception), the crowds are light, the decorations are terrific, and it's usually cold here in New Jersey by the time we leave!
