Garden Grill is my vote. Captain's Grill is fine I'm sure but it's not very Disney. the atmosphere of the land + characters vs. a boring restaurant in the most boringly themed hotel on property? lol. not that I get a vote OR my opinion was asked.

I had the Captain's Grille one booked first after roomie's budget freakout when I had to drop our dinner CP package for a breakfast (since it was one of the cheapest CP packages), but then a week later, I happened across a Garden Grill one, so I booked that too. It's only like $8 more, so I figure at some point, I'll just quietly drop the Captain's Grille one and hope she doesn't get pissed. I would think chipmunks and sticky buns will quench any hatefire she might have about the barely higher price.

If it's an $8 difference only, I'd definitely go with Garden Grill. Chipmunks make all the difference!

I decided it was something I wanted to get in on because I realized It'd be great for our family because we'll be a group of 6. I just didn't want to deal with keeping us all together in the crowds. Especially when it's a really late night for my girls..
That sleepy hallow waffle trumps all those tiny treats.. Maybe I'll sneak one in ( or 6)
I don't really mind if it's an "ok" view of fireworks. I mean, as long as we see them I think the girls would be happy. I couldn't imagine there being a paid viewing party if the view was mostly blocked. You know? Is it?

yes, it is an "ok" view of the fireworks. the thing that you "lose out" on are the 360 fireworks (not the entire show, just at certain points) because you are under cover and off to the side, but the main display that is behind the castle will be in full view for you like any other wishes display. Since regular wishes does not have the 360 component it is a better than ok view of those fireworks. I don't mind off to the side for that, and it is a great place to see tinker bell fly (I think she flies for holiday wishes too) so there is that and I have watched the fireworks from the bridge to tomorrowland more than once (regular wishes). But if you have never experienced the 360 fireworks and don't know what you are missing I am sure you will think it is a good view (not just ok) of the fireworks and there will be stuff at certain points going off behind you and on the other side of the roof that you can't see but there is plenty of beautiful pyrotechnics going on in your field of view.

The reviews have gotten much better for the dessert party and it appears that the crowding issue someone reported on was either vastly overstated or resolved. The reviews are very positive now. I am guessing people who say it is amazing also just don't know what they are missing over and behind them and it is still spectacular to them for what is going on around the castle. I have been to disney too much to know what I am missing and have a preference about it, but even so if I had some reason for it to make logistical sense I'd seriously consider it (keeping a larger group together etc).

Wish I could rope drop on 12/7 at Epcot, but my sister might revolt on an early morning after MVMCP so my plans start around 11:00 on the 7th. We have 2 FP in Future World and then we will be moving on to drink and snack around the world. Hope I see ya'll there.

I am RD Epcot that day with Soarin before 10am Garden Grill and then finishing out whatever we are missing in future world. maybe i'll see you around lol

seriously, buy one less pin/mug/snack/adult beverage/whatever. All of those will save you more than $8!

We're the opposite since roomie and I are apparently the only two people in the world who don't care for Illuminations. We're World Showcase-ing from 11am until the 5pm CP, then hitting Future World until close.

they hold it there because that's where they hold it the rest of the year. it is indoors with seating so it is seen as the premium spot. the plaza gardens, while a better view of the fireworks, has no seating and is not under cover so if it is drizzling or even raining but the fireworks still go on it is definitely a premium spot.

take some time and look at this. it is kenny the pirate's review and it shows the halloween wishes (so no spoilers for you for the christmas ones lol) and you can see what you will see there. his review is not very positive but it is being given by someone who goes to WDW ALL THE TIME, has a favorite spot to view the fireworks at etcetc. Also a single guy and not a family of 6.

We have CP on 2 days since they haven't released the narrators, but I'm leaning toward keeping the 11th. We are going to USO, but just to CityWalk and Toothsome. I'm currently on hold for a possible sleigh ride. I would like to meet up at the party, even just to say hello. We aren't doing any dessert parties because M isn't a sweet eater really and is usually forced to eat them at Disney lol.
