DH and I are going on our first trip without the kids for my birthday.I checked the room only promo and my AP promo and not too many rooms are available. I wanted an Epcot area resort but only POR, CSR and SSR was available. CSR had a pirate room and POR had a royal room, neither interest us. Is the first week of April usually very busy? I keep checking the website but nothing new pops up.

Yup. I'm finding it very hard to find DVC availability for the second half of that first week :(

Yep, it's our Spring Break here in Atlanta. We'll be there! It's our first time going that week so I'm a bit worried about the crowds.

I booked what I have for our next trip for Dec 2019, last Dec 2018. Couldn't get all the room categories even then that I wanted. I am still checking often to change my category if it comes available.

Lack of availability in April is not at all surprising at this late date. Getting anything plus with a discount for that time DOES surprise me, however. I would grab one of the available options and keep checking the website to change it if something new becomes available. (BTW: Since you say it has a pirate room available, I suppose that you mean CBR rather than CSR?) In any case, any of the three resorts you mentioned would work for us. We would probably select SSR if we wanted extra space OR POR RR (request oak manor) if the SSR resort 'theme' doesn't appeal right now. CBR pirate rooms have full beds, I believe, and we would rather have queens so it would be our last choice. (Although with the new changes at CBR, we are planning to revisit that resort soon.)

Good luck getting a room that you will love!

During a busy time, booking two weeks in advance is probably not going to get your choice of resorts. For two adults, I would pick SSR. I love the resort and it's a nice walk (or boat ride) to Disney Springs. They also have a nice table service restaurant (Turf Club).

Like, this April? As in weeks away? During spring break? I'm shocked there's no availability. Shocked.

My doctor keeps telling me that the sarcasm will help. With what, goodness knows.

Thanks for the sarcasm dose I enjoy it sometimes too. :) You may be even more Shocked to learn I only planned this trip this weekend! Yep no long drawn out long wait this time. I wonder if Epcot will be as busy as Food and Wine was Columbus day weekend. I should have researched better but couldnt resist being in Disney on my birthday.

We like the Royal Rooms. We would rather book a preferred but last time RR was all that was available. The theme is not over the top so it doesn't feel like a little kid room and it has queen beds (Pirate rooms do not). Also, if you request oak manor its actually closer to the lobby than many other parts of the resort. We love using the boat transport to Disney Springs as well.
