Alright. I have read many of the trip reports posted here, but I have never attempted one of my own until now.
There were only three of us on this trip. Me (38), DW (39) and DS(4). Now I am the planner of the group. Of course I bounce all of my idea's off DW
, but she goes along with most of them. This was also our first trip to our home DVC resort, Animal Kingdon Villas. We were also celebrating our 15th anniversary. It was back in October, but this was when we wanted to celebrate it.
So we wake up at the crack of 3am. Ouch! Not fun at all. We have 705am flights our of Raleigh on Southwest to get to. Now I was planning on just sticking DS in the car and letting him sleep all the way to the airport. But he was the one that woke us up! So im guessing he was just a little excited. He should be because I had been using our Disney Christmas countdown clock as a Disney vacation countdown clock.
It was a pretty uneventful ride to Raleigh. DS did fall asleep again and we got there in plenty of time. Got there so early that SW ticket counter wasnt even open. Made it through secuirty, even thought they had to swab DS drink cup. I guess he looked like a terrorist, he is a bit wild
.
Flight down was great. I do have to give it to SW, they are awesome. Nice seats, friendly people...low prices, i'm pretty sure they are going to be our Disney airline. The most fun on the plane was when DS announced that he had to go to the bathroom. Those things are small enough for 1, but its really cramped when dad has to go with DS!!! I cuold barely get the door closed
!
So we landed, got our bags and that was when I first noticed...MCO was empty! Went to get our rental car and there was no one there. Not 1 person at any of the car rental counters. Got our car and headed to the store to get some food for the room. DS pitched a fit! All he wanted to do was to go see Mickey, not get any food. Was able to smooth that over and we were back on our way.
We pulled up to AKV and it was awesome! I'd post some pictures, but im not quite sure how to do it! So if anyone has any instructions, let me know and ill add some! I could not get over the view in the lobby. Its not as big, from what I remember, as WL, but it was just as nice. Our room wasnt ready, so it was off to MK!!
Now me and DW were hungry. DS, even though he had not eaten much either, demanded to go on the "people mover" before we did anything else. So we gave in, went on it and Buzz Lightyear and then ate. Thats when we realized just how crowded MK was. Went to Cosmic Rays and it was a madhouse. Had to fight to get in line to order, fight your way back out with your food and then search for a table. Then I remembered that it was the last day of the Pop Warner football thing going on.
Ill just add this here as it fits just as good here. I am NEVER going on any of the days of Pop Warner. Now I know I am just judging the few people I saw, and heard, but holy cow! I heard more "F Bombs"
that day than ever before at Disney. The kids I saw were rude, pushy and very unbehaved. OK. Feel better. Rant over!
So we finished eating and hit some more rides until dinner. We had 525 ressies at O'Hana. Ill just say this...............IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
The service was great and the food was out of this world. And of course, the dessert was awesome as well. Well worth the money and we were most definately full. Even DS liked it. I was very surprised when he ate the pork over the steak and shrimp.
Afterwards, went back to MK for a few more rides and then we went to see what our room looked like.
We were in 5274, a 1 bedroom villa. It was awesome. First of all, any room that has not 1 but 2 plasma TVs so I can watch ESPN whenever I want, is tops with me! Now ill say that the rooms were a little on the dark side, but it was just from the woods that were used inside. I had read that people thought the rooms were very dark and I was a bit concerned. But they were very, very nice rooms. Big jetted tub, DS enjoyed that, a huge balcony, nice bed and bedding. DW and I liked how it looked. DS, however, had fallen asleep on the way back and wouldnt get to see it until the morning.
And that sounds like a good place to stop. DAY 2, Animal Kingdom, is next. C-YA!
