1st Trip with our 1 year old- Are We Overambitious?

Buzz kill:

Your kid is 14.5 months old. Wait till Reagan is atleast 3 or 4. It's a waste of time and money at this age. If you are honest with yourself, you will probably realize that you are doing this trip for you, not for Reagan.

You got one thing right...Buzz kill.

We're definitely doing it for us- we know she won't remember. But she's free. And we would go anyway.

Some of our best memories are from our first trip when our Son was 14 months old (and that was 20+ years ago!). He really enjoyed the character interactions. Our Daughter a few years later liked the "idea" of meeting the characters until she met them and Goofy was 6 feet tall! She screamed and dove under the table to escape, lesson learned, she did enjoy the rest of the trip!

. We're going to go and enjoy every minute of looking at ducks, taking extended breaks, etc. Whatever works!

Thanks to everyone who gave us advice!! :thanks:
That can be the best part of the day. The Wedway people mover on a hot day is good too! The CM let my wife stay on during one trip as our Son napped!

I admit that I haven't read everyone else's input, but I will say from experience that the most important part of planning with a child this young is the part you mention over and over again in your plan..."we'll see what she's up for at that point". Refreshing to see that you have the right mindset/expectations, and with that in place I think you'll have a great experience.

Only hole I see is that the break for the MK day seems a little short, especially if you're hoping for a late night. Buy you know your child, and you're in the best position to judge how much of a break she needs to recharge the batteries (and realistically how long she might nap).

As passholders I'm sure you know the location of the baby center in each park...I know in early March it won't be scorching hot yet, but it still might be a nice place for a little downtime while the other parent sneaks off to squeeze something in.

Just relax and enjoy, and ignore the naysayers who tell you that you should never take a baby to Disney. We got our son's first haircut at Harmony, and the pictures from that alone were worth the entire trip.

I think your plan looks great with a few tweaks that some PP have mentioned. We just returned from a trip to DLR with DD(4) and DD(15months) and I had an even more detailed schedule than yours. I am more comfortable having a schedule. Just be prepared to go with the flow and change things up on the spot.

I just want to chime in and say that even though your child is young, you will remember. Take lots of pictures. She'll be happy to see them when she gets older. My DD(4) loves looking through old albums of when we took her each year.

Have a great trip.
